Look for published proposals involving dormers, roof replacements, changes to ridge height and extensions with new roof structures. PlanIndex shows the council's description, address, recorded status and dates, with a link to the source documents. These can help you identify potential work before it reaches site.

Check what the proposal actually includes

A mention of a roof does not necessarily mean roofing work is available. Open the drawings and description to check the scope: a rooflight, a full replacement and a dormer conversion are different opportunities. The register also contains amendments and conditions attached to earlier applications, which should not be counted as entirely new jobs.

On Trade you can use category and keyword filters to focus your watched areas. Try terms such as dormer, roof replacement or re-roof, and review the matches. Routine repairs and other work that never appears on a planning register will not be found through planning alerts.

Monitor applications you want to follow
