Find proposed extensions, conversions and new builds
PlanIndex brings published planning applications into one place. For a builder, the useful starting points are proposals for extensions, garage conversions, annexes and new homes in the places you already work. Each record shows the address, proposal, recorded dates and status, with a link to the council portal for the drawings.
Use the proposal to qualify the project
Read the description before treating a record as a potential job. A rear extension may suit a domestic building firm; a large housing scheme may not. Variations and conditions can relate to an existing permission rather than a separate project, so check the related references and council documents.
On Trade, category and keyword filters help you narrow your watched areas. Start with words that describe the work you take on, such as extension, conversion or annexe, then review the results for relevance. An application is evidence of proposed work, not a request for a quote.
Follow the project through a decision
A new application gives you an early record to review. Decision alerts let you know when we pick up an approval, refusal or withdrawal from the council register. Permission does not establish the budget, start date or whether a builder has already been appointed.
