This explains what PlanIndex does with planning data and with the small amount of information we hold about you if you sign up. We have tried to keep it plain.
Planning records
Planning applications are public records that councils are required to publish. We index the factual parts of those records: the reference, address, description, dates, status and decision. We link back to the council portal for the documents and do not host them.
We do not show personal applicant names, even where a source provides one. We strip them when a page is built, so an upstream change cannot leak a name onto a page later. Company names and professional agent names are treated as business information and may appear.
If a page still shows something personal, or a record connected to you is causing harm, you can ask us to remove it. We review every request and reply by email. The source record stays on the council portal, which we cannot change.
If you create an account
To send alerts we need your email address and the areas you ask us to watch. We use these only to run your account and send the digests you have asked for. Every email includes links to manage your areas and to unsubscribe.
We do not sell your details or share them for marketing. We use a small number of processors to run the service: a payment provider for paid plans, and an email provider to send digests and account mail. They handle only what they need to do that job.
Cookies and tracking
The public pages carry no analytics, no advertising and no third party tracking. We set one first-party cookie that remembers the first page that brought you to the site, so we know which pages people find useful. If you log in we set one further cookie to keep you signed in. That is the extent of it.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the account data we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account. For planning records, the removal route above is the fastest way to raise a concern. To reach us about account data, email [email protected].
