The tree stands within approximately 3 metres of my property, growing from a raised rockery structure which does not provide a suitable long-term rooting environment for a tree of its current size and expected future growth. The spruce has now outgrown its constrained location, and its proximity to the property presents an increasing risk of structural pressure on the rockery and adjacent hard surfaces. A similar spruce in an adjoining garden failed during storm conditions last year, demonstrating that mature specimens of this species in this immediate area may be vulnerable due to restricted rooting depths and local exposure. Replacement planting can be provided where required, using appropriate species that will maintain local amenity without causing future conflicts. The removal of these trees is therefore based on safety considerations, site constraints, and practical arboricultural management, rather than any desire to alter the character of the wider greenbelt area. Replacement planting can be provided if required by the Local Planning Authority, and species can be selected to ensure long-term suitability and to maintain local amenity value.

Reason for Works: The basal stem exhibits extensive decay with a large area of dysfunction and an open cavity, consistent with advanced wood degradation. There is clear evidence of ascending decay, indicating progressive structural compromise originating from a root infection. The tree, approximately 4 metres in height, was last pollarded in 2010. Given the extent of decay and the presence of an open cavity at the base, the structural integrity of the stem is significantly compromised. The tree owner has expressed concern regarding the safety of retaining the tree in its current condition, particularly due to its proximity to areas of frequent access by occupants of the neighbouring property. Replacement Planting Proposal: A replacement Lime tree (Tilia - europaea) is proposed to be planted within the same vicinity, subject to site suitability. The replacement will be container-grown, approximately 10-12 cm girth, and planted during the next dormant season to ensure successful establishment.

Planning Application to Fell Sycamore Tree T2 (TPO) Sea Pines Sycamore Tree T2 ? Fell. Decay found at the base of the tree, penetrating by approximately 6-8 inches and extending up the trunk by approximately 12 inches. With all the current weather conditions and the fact that this tree is in close proximity and leaning towards our bungalow, we are concerned that this Sycamore tree T2 is now a safety risk to our property. An inspection of the tree was made by a qualified arborist Mr James Northcott of Trees in Need, who confirmed this significant decay, and recommended that the tree be felled on the grounds of safety. As we are deeply concerned about planting trees in close proximity to our property, we are happy to plant an attractive tree such as a Liquidambar Styraciflua on our northern boundary. This would offer amenity value forming an attractive group of trees alongside our Tulip Tree.
