T1 - Lime Crown reduction by up to 3 m across the entire canopy, proportionally decreasing height and lateral spread. Final pruning cuts should be made at the positions shown in the submitted photographs (red-marked cut points). All cuts to be made to suitable secondary growth points, preserving a balanced, natural crown shape. Maximum wound size should be kept as small as practicable and in line with BS3998:2010 Tree Work - Recommendations. Justification for Works The tree shows poor bifurcation, developing a single dominant stem with limited structural division. Crown reduction will decrease end-weight, reduce mechanical stress, and help maintain the tree at a size suitable for its environment. The works are preventative and aim to keep the tree structurally sound. T2 - Horse Chestnut Crown reduction by up to 3 metres, maintaining the natural crown shape. Final pruning cuts should follow the positions shown in the submitted photographs. Pruning aims to reduce end-weight and mechanical loading on the cavity located just below the first-order branch junction. All cuts are to be made to appropriate secondary growth points, in accordance with BS3998:2010. Justification for Work A cavity is present below the first-order branch junction, which reduces the structural integrity at a key load-bearing point. Crown reduction will decrease lever arm forces acting on the defective area and mitigate the risk of branch or stem failure. The work is proportionate, preventive, and intended to safely retain the tree.

T12 & T13 - 2x Monterey Cypress - Crown lift by removing primary, secondary and sub-lateral branch growth, to provide a vertical clearance of approximately 5.60 m between ground level and the lowest foliage tips, thereby achieving the desired clearance over the road. Individual pruning wounds shall not exceed 100 mm in diameter in accordance with BS 39982010 Tree Work - Recommendations. Remove dead or broken branches and stubs left from previous tree pruning operations, where such material exceeds 20 mm in diameter. T10 - 1x Beech Tree Crown reduce the tree overall by pruning back to the previous pruning points, whilst retaining the main framework and natural shape of the crown, thereby maintaining a high proportion of the foliage-bearing structure. Reduce the height of the tree by approximately 2.0 metres, leaving a final overall height of approximately 8.0 metres. Reduce the radial crown spread by approximately 2.0 metres, leaving a final radial spread of approximately 8.0 metres at all compass points. Individual final pruning wounds shall not exceed 40 mm in diameter. T16 - 1x Beech Tree Crown lift over the driveway only by removing secondary and sub-lateral branch growth, to provide a vertical clearance of approximately 6.0 metres between ground level and the lowest foliage tips, thereby achieving the desired clearance. All works shall retain the natural form of the crown and avoid the creation of large pruning wounds. Individual pruning wounds shall not exceed 40 mm in diameter. All arisings to be removed from site and returned to a Devon Tree Services depot for recycling, leaving the area safe, clean, and tidy. TPO & Conservation Area Application -Justification Statement The proposed tree works form part of an ongoing cyclical management programme aimed at maintaining the long term health, structural integrity and safe retention of the tree stock. We intend to prune our Mimosa Tree at the front of the property to keep it well maintained and prevent it from protruding significantly into the Highway. This also obstructs visibility for those using the courtyard which is a safety concern. Please see image of tree and location plan. NB: Tree is the larger of the two canopies depicted in the front garden on the plans (SE corner). The proposed works consist of a selective crown reduction to the outer extremities of the canopy. It is intended to reduce the length of the overextended branches to approx 1.5-2m from the branch tips equating to an overall reduction of no more than 20-30% of the crown volume.

Please refer to attached tree report for comments. Work spec: 777 Monterey Cypress: Reduce the side of the western crown by 2.5m by selective branch removal. Crown raise the eastern stem to 5m above ground level to reduce load on the sagged limb. Prune to achieve a 2m clearance from the garage. Prune to achieve a 1m clearance from the telecoms wore. Use a maximum cut diameter of 125mm. Comments: Main stem divides at 1.5m into 5 stems. Some included bark present but no signs of excessive movement. The stems are extensive and have notable leans, most of all in the SW stem. The crown density is below average, more so in southern stem where there is several dead branches 100mm diameter. The eastern stem is subdominant, it looks to have sagged and likely contains some cracking. 778 Monterey Cypress: Reduce the spread of the lowest 2 limbs in the eastern aspect by 1.5m by selective branch removal. Remove hanging branches at approximately 12m above ground level. Use a 100mm maximum cut diameter. Comments: Triple stemmed from 1.5m. significant crown bias to the east. Ivy on main stems. Extensive lateral branches in eastern aspect. There is at least one broken branch suspended over the neighbours garage at approximately 12m above ground level. 779 Monterey Cypress: Remove the hanging branch near the top of the tree. Remove ivy. Prune to achieve a 2m clearance from the garage. Reduce the spread of lowest eastern branch by 2m and crown raise it by 2m. Use a 100mm maximum cut diameter. Comments: Dog-legged main stem with significant crown bias to the SW. Crown growing with 1m of garage. Ivy growth on main stem. Volume of decay suspected in main stem. Obscured by ivy, but considered contained. Lowest branch in eastern aspect is extensive with excessive end loading suspected. There is a hanging branch near the top of the tree, suspended over the garage roof. 780 Monterey Cypress: Reduce the southwestern side of the crown by 2m, targeting the cracked limb. Reduce the heig

Oak T1 - Proposed work: Fell. Justification: The tree exhibits a pronounced lean with a restricted rooting environment, resulting in reduced structural stability. Removal is appropriate due to limited long-term retention potential. Natural regeneration is generally expected and seen as a suitable strategy for this species. Oak T2 - Proposed work: Re-coppice to previous points. Justification: Evidence of decay within the lower stem. Re-coppicing helps restore a stable coppice stool and keeps the tree contributing to the hedge structure. Natural regeneration is generally expected and seen as a suitable replacement strategy for this species. Oak T3 - Proposed work: Fell. Justification: Significant lean combined with constrained rooting space, limiting safe future development. Removal is appropriate given the low long-term viability. Natural regeneration is generally expected and seen as a suitable strategy for this species. Oak T4 - Re-coppice to previous points. Justification: Decay is present in the lower stem. Re-coppicing helps restore a stable coppice stool and keeps the tree contributing to the hedge structure. Natural regeneration is generally expected and seen as a suitable replacement strategy for this species. Sycamore T5 - Proposed work: Crown reduction by up to 2m, maintaining natural form. Justification: Works intended to manage crown spread and maintain appropriate clearance while retaining tree health and amenity value. The tree lost its stability and possibly some roots when the neighbouring wall collapsed last year. Oak T6 - Proposed work: Remove the lowest-order branch only. Justification: Minor branch removal required to facilitate access for larger vehicles. The branch is of small diameter with an acceptable 3:1 ratio, and removal will not adversely affect the tree's form or vitality.
