Works: Trees
Still open. Anyone can comment while the consultation period runs, and comments go to the council rather than to us.
Proposal
We planted an olive tree in the bed on the patio behind our house in 2004. It has apparently found a water source and grown much larger than originally expected. We have pruned it regularly, but it has continued to grow and is now disproportionately large for a relatively small patio area. Unfortunately, it has attracted a fungus, which produces substantial amounts of white residue and sticky deposits, which render the use of our outside space effectively impossible. We have taken advice from a tree surgeon, who has told us that without knowing the source of the infection (probably another fruit tree) it will not be feasible to eliminate this. The tree is also now too big to treat. In the light of this, we are seeking permission to cut the tree down.
