Awaiting decision West Berkshire 26/01461/ADV Advertising

Still open. Anyone can comment while the consultation period runs, and comments go to the council rather than to us.

Proposal

An external black frame aluminium noticeboard, with a white magnetic backing for displaying 3 A2 posters. The posters will advertise regular and ad hoc events happening at the church and within the local community. This is a replacement for the current noticeboard which is broken and uneconomical to repair.

What happens while it is decided

The process from here

This application is with West Berkshire for determination. The council publicises it, consults neighbours and technical bodies where required, and weighs the responses against local and national planning policy.

The statutory target is eight weeks for most applications and thirteen for major development, though extensions of time are common. Comments carry most weight while the case is undecided, so check the council portal for the deadline if you want to respond.

About advertising applications

How this application type works

Advertisement consent controls signs, hoardings and other adverts. The council may only judge two things: amenity, meaning the effect on the appearance of the building and area, and public safety, chiefly whether a sign distracts road users or obstructs sight lines. Other planning considerations, such as competition between businesses, do not apply.
