  • P19/S3891/TPO Granted

Britwell Hill Farm & West Cottage, Britwell Hill, Britwell Salome

Oak - fell. The reason for this work is that the tree is dying back in the upper canopy with Ganoderma sp fungi observed at the base of the tree. The tree is suppressed by T10 and as such is not considered to be of significant amenity value.

T2 - Beech - tip back canopy up to 2.5m on north side. T7 - Beech - tip back canopy by up to 3m and up to 5m above ground level over lawn only. Install protecting webbing to prevent bark damage from rope swing. T8 - Oak - tip back low branches over road to 5.3m. Install protective webbing to prevent bark damage. Sever ivy before next inspection. T10 - Oak - reduce upper canopy as part of the canopy has become exposed due to previous works - see photo. Remove deadwood. Recommend annual inspections due to the presence of the Giant Polypore from previous tree removal. T12 - Oak - tip back canopy growing towards the property by 1.5m. Remove deadwood. Annual inspections recommended. T14 - Oak - recommend to undertake lateral reduction of up to 2m and a crown reduction of up to 3m. Due to the fungal fruiting brackets recommend annual inspections. T1733 - Oak - Fell. Cavaties are present at 3m agl on the western side of the main stem and 4m agl on the eastern side of the main stem. In addition a basal cavity is also present. It is concluded that the basal area is compromised due to the level of dysfunctional wood that is present. With the presence of the additional cavities on the main stem and that the tree is within faalling distance of the property the recommendation is to fell the tree. It is further proposed to undertake replacement planting.

T1: Birch: Twin stemmed Birch with a crown break a couple of feet above ground level. This tree has had cobra bracing installed and has previously had a crown reduction undertaken due to the applicants concerns over its safety with its close proximity to their own and neighbouring properties and the high volume of pedestrians who walk past the house particularly during the school pick up and drop off timings. The applicant wishes to reduce the height of the tree by 4 metres, to a point just above the previous pruning points and the lateral branches by up to 1 metre. T2, T3 and T4: Birch: Applicant wishes to carry out a 2m crown reduction of all 3 trees. These trees were planted by the applicant on the basis that they would be maintained as small trees owing to the size of space in this area of the garden and the proximity of buildings.

There are two trees in the front garden Permission is requested to fell both trees. Tree 1 = Weeping Birch Tree Tree 2 = Maple Tree Weeping Birch (Tree 1) This has become too large for the site, the roots are lifting the paving around it, making it a trip hazard. Roots have also entered the nearby drains, causing problems. Permission is sought to fell the tree, to make safe access to the property and to make space on the driveway for off street parking. (There is a nearby primary school, and parking can be a challenge.) Maple (Tree 2) This tree has also become too big for its location, which is very close to the boundary of No. 5 and No. 7 Vicarage Rd, causing lifting of the paving around it. It is also very close to both houses. Permission is sought to fell this tree.
