P17/S4930/TCA Decided
Home Close, Southend, Garsington, Oxon, OX44 9DH
T2 - Cherry Sorbus Ginkgo Arbutus T2 - Cherry - fell and grind (3rd in group). 3 trees situated behind the Viburnum tinus hedge at the top end of drive and to the western side of the house. After the snowfall on Sunday 10th, I saw that the Sorbus had uprooted and falled down flat (with some branchs lying on the fence) taking with it the Ginkgo which was to the south/roadside of it. All that remains of the Ginkgo is one upright branch seen to the right of the photo. The sorbus must be dead or dying currently. I therefore intend removing both the sorbus and the Ginkgo. The Arbutus is directly behind the greenhouse and 2 of the 3 branches have splt off and rae held up by the fence with the foliage on the rear of the greenhouse. Having consulted Brown, G The Pruning of Trees, Shrubs and Conifers which states that Arbutus can be cut back hard and regenerte freely after storm damage, I intend to take the Arbutus down to below the split and hope that it regenerates. It is dangerous currently if it is not removed. Pleae take this as my notice of intent, if you require one, as I believe for CA work it is not a legal requirement to complete a formal form. Remarks:

Carmel College, Mongewell, Wallinford, OX10 8BU
T17 - Lime - fell. Evidence that extensive diseas (Kretzschmaria deusta) has caused considerable decay affecting the trees structural condition to such an extent foreseeable failure is probable. Recommend for felling by SODC Forestry officer in comment dated 12 Jan 17 in reference to planning consent P16/S3801/FUL. Beech (T2) - fell - classified as over mature and category C (see attached Arboricultural report). Removing will improve conditions for the closely located Yew tree (T1) which is of high amenity value. NB. It is not clear whether T1 or T2 are subject of TPOs, the precautionary assumption is that they are, hence listing the works on T2 here. The felling of a number of non TPO trees will also be taking place as per the attached Arboricultural and Planning Integration Report. Of note is the removal of 4 self seeded Sycamore trees (T9, T11, T12, T14) that impinge on the canopies of TPO beech trees (T8, T10, T13, T15). During the removal of these trees, no heavy machinery will encroach into the Root Protection Areas of the TPO trees (T8, T10, T13, T15). This was successful. However, since then, one tree is suppressed to the point of failure and the othr will outgrow the site. The owner is more than willing to replant with a more suitable species. This proposal has been discussed with Matt Gulliford (he agrees). T1 Horse Chestnut Spec: S15 Fell tree to ground level.
