  T2 - Cherry Sorbus Ginkgo Arbutus T2 - Cherry - fell and grind (3rd in group). 3 trees situated behind the Viburnum tinus hedge at the top end of drive and to the western side of the house. After the snowfall on Sunday 10th, I saw that the Sorbus had uprooted and falled down flat (with some branchs lying on the fence) taking with it the Ginkgo which was to the south/roadside of it. All that remains of the Ginkgo is one upright branch seen to the right of the photo. The sorbus must be dead or dying currently. I therefore intend removing both the sorbus and the Ginkgo. The Arbutus is directly behind the greenhouse and 2 of the 3 branches have splt off and rae held up by the fence with the foliage on the rear of the greenhouse. Having consulted Brown, G The Pruning of Trees, Shrubs and Conifers which states that Arbutus can be cut back hard and regenerte freely after storm damage, I intend to take the Arbutus down to below the split and hope that it regenerates. It is dangerous currently if it is not removed. Pleae take this as my notice of intent, if you require one, as I believe for CA work it is not a legal requirement to complete a formal form. Remarks:

  T15, T13, T11, T9, T6, T4, T2 - Lime T14, T12, T10, T8, T8, T5, T3, T1 - Lime T16 - Betula albosinensis T17, T18 - Cherry T15, T13, T11, T9, T6, T4, T2 - Lime - fell and grind. Reason: In high winds their abnormal height in relation to their width causes them to sway alarmingly and their location beside the road is a cause for concern. In recent years, the limes have damaged the boundary wall and needed lopping because of interference with the power lines. These trees are the same age as the lime trees in Garsington Manor gardens (both properties were under the same ownership at the time the limes were planted) and several of the limes at the Manor have already been removed for safety reasons (see ref CA 6400 20 Aug 14). The trees have been monitored by my tree surgeon since 2006 when there was evidence of rot to the crowns of three of the trees selected for removal (T2, T4, T6) and there is evidence of weeping from the crowns. The vertical growth spurt during the last 3 years, given the trees' position on southern boundary of garden, has resulted in the front garden, listed granary and front of house to remain shaded for almost the whole day, even in the summer months. The removal of every other tree with eliminate the most damaged specimens and allow the canopies of remaining trees to develop. Thus, it is the most sensible way to preserve the amenity value of the row for the immediate future. Their removal will significantly increase the visibility to the public of trees within the property some of which are rare e.g. Liriodentron tulipifera, Tilia tomentosa and Davidia involucrata all of which are close to the front boundary. The visibility of the granary from the road will also be increased and the structure will be less subject to the growth of moss and ferns and the damage that they cause. T14, T12, T10, T8, T9, T5, T3, T1 - Lime - reduce to 7.5m. T16 - Betula albosinensis - Remove lowest branch facing SW and lowest secondary branch facing S. Reason: Overhanging rose hedge. T17, T18 - Cherry - fell and grind - Dead (5 day notice). Remarks:
