T1 - dangerous Black Poplar - located close to gateway with a lean over the A4074. The trees displays progressive defects with a potential hazard beam at 10m above ground level on main stem, decayed and hollowed (identified through percussive hammering) and root damage. There was a desiccated fruitification present at the base, also. This tree requires careful felling, close to ground level, dismantling in sections to avoid work over road. Traffic Management. T2 - Corsican Pine - located beside entrance drive close to west of main house. The tree appears physiologically very poor with sparse canopy density and anaemic foliage, and shows some new extension growth this year, but it is likely to deteriorate based on the current condition of the remainder of the tree. Some fibre buckling is present at approx 1.3m above ground level on the western aspect. Additionally there may have been some physical changes that are affecting the tree. Due to the potential position and target of this tree, I sugges it is felled to ground level, dismantling in sections. Wolsley House and Wolsley Court, Between Station Road and Yew Tree Court, GORING

The tree is situated on land adjacent to 2 Yew Tree Court, to the north. T10 - Horse Chestnut - Condition - poor, dominant canopy form. Good vitality shown by twig and leaf size, structure, colour and density, although with early stages of Guignardia aesculi (fungal airbore spores colonising leaves. Previous crown reduction at c12 with mature growth. Epicormic growth on primary branches indicating increasing light levels on main branches (commensurate with tree stress including insufficient water from roots, pathogen attack etc), bark cracks on main branches differentiated from growth cracks by absence of bark and commensurate with moderate to advanced Horse Chestnut Bleeding Canker.Three stems arising from 4 to 5m with good 'u' shaped tension unions. Observation of lower stem, testing with nylon hammer and removal of low bark demonstrated bark death of c30 to 50% in strips from the base of the tree to >2m commensurate to moderate to advanced Horse Chestnut Bleeding Canker. Consideration - The reduction in viable transportation from the roots to the canopy, shown by the strips of bark death, is likely to be caused by Horse Chestnut Bleeding Canker. It is anticipated that this pathogen is likely to have an increasing impact upon the tree making it a short term tree. When the disease is advanced there is a high potential for branch failure. Due to the proximity of the road and adjacent housing remedial works are necessary. Crown reduction is likely to resolve the potential for branch failure. However, the impact upon the tree condition is likely to exacerbate the progress of the Horse Chestnut Bleeding Canker and encourage additional pathogens to colonise the tree. Additionally the aesthetic value of the tree would be diminished. Removal would allow the abatement of the risk and allow for the long term replacement tree planting. Recommendations - remove. Grind stump to 200mm below ground level. Remove arisings. Infill stump ground hole with week free aerobic topsoil with good crumb structure and walk in to create level area commensurate with the adjacent ground. Plant new tree (for instance Oak/Lime/Sweet Chestnut/Hornbeam/Tulip tree) 10-12cm girth (see specification for ground preparation, planting, irrigation and plant maintenance). T10 Horse Chestnut Spec: S15 Fell tree to ground level. This large tree is already pollarded and leans across the water and the landing stage for the rowing club next door to the garden in which it stands. There is considerable decay present in the main stem and Polyporus squamosus brackets present. Although the risk of failure may not be high there is the potential for considerable damage/injury due to the frequency of use by the rowing club. By reducing the crown significantly te risk of failure will be greatly reduced and the tree will continue to thrive as a smaller pollarded tree. Remarks:

T16 - Poplar - fell. The tree leans towards the property and is too large for its position. The tree dominates the back garden. The crown has become very large causing excessive shading and the tree has lost four branches recently in the windy weather. Our client has young children and they are naturally concerned about the tree as a potential hazard.The roots are also beginning to reach towards the property, causing cracking to the patio. In addition, the tree produces hugh amounts of pollen seeds and white fluff (pukh). During this period the garden is ankle deep in the fluff which makes the garden unusable to our client and her family. Basic use of the outside space - play by their children and even hanging out the families washing is impossible. Our client is also requesting a specialist Arb report to assess whether two cracked windows to the property could have been caused by the tree. This will follow shortly. The applicant and the tree surgeon Mr Roderick Baird have inspected the site and found that several branches of the Oak, and some branches of the Acer, have grown close to Temple House. The proposed work is therefore to reduce overhangs from both trees at suitable growth points to a distance approximately three metres the Temple House side of the boundary wall with the applicant's property.
