Request to fell Beech Tree (shown on plan) due to damage to drainage system caused by root ingress, which has cracked the pipework causing blockages and leaking of sewerage. The tree is only 2 ft frm the drains. Auger Drainage Company have completed CCTV surveys and propose a number of patch liners. These will only give short term fix which they are unable to guarantee against future root ingress. We propose a long term fix by excavating the entire run of pipework from the rear of the house to the front wall boundary. This would be replaced with new pipework. As discussed with Joe Smith on site on 16.4.15 we will also be removing any large shrubs in close proximity to the drains to avoid future problems. Thames Water have been contacted regarding the pipework beyond our boundary, they have advised this is a health issue and will be inspecting their pipework. We do not intend to replace the Beech due to having another very large Beech tree in close proximity (photo enclosed).

Remove epicormic growth from trunk etc. Similar work was carried out in 2004 and it seems that it needs to be looked at again as once again, there are some dead sections and the one particular crossing branch which could be particularly hazardous if it were to break and fall as it is directly over my neighbours drive. They are now quite outgrown and impose over the neighbours property and are out of scale/too large for their position. The trees are to be reduced in height by around 50% and the side growth clipped back to maintain them as a managed hedge or screen. T2 - Maple - this tree is clearly in poor health with deadwood and die back over the whole crown. It is to be removed. Remarks:

I have drawn a very simple sketch of the tree in question as it is the only one at the location and easily identifiable. When I spoke to the tree officer on the phone he had already seen and identified it from your records. At our property it sits a metre from the right hand edge of our drive in front of our gable ended bedroom window. As a brief history of this tree I can only say that we inherited it when we bought the property in 2001. We were told by the previous occupier that he had done nothing to the tree for the duration of his time here and clearly it was in need of some attention in the form of general maintenance. We duly applied for the correct permission and gave the care and attention it required in the form of a "trim " and removing significant amounts of dead wood. We have done this on at least one occasion since. (When I see "we", I obviously mean professional tree surgeons). However it is clear to see that at some point in the tree's past some work was done at the very top of the tree when it was chopped off in an attempt, I assume, to halt its upward growth. Unfortunately, this has served to encourage new growth and sprout many new upward branches which is not the form this tree should take especially when compared to other similar trees in the very close locality. The tree therefore looks unbalanced with a disproportionate amount of new growth at the very top. I am therefore concerned for the welfare of the tree and local property. During high wind we get a significant amount of large debris falling from high up in the tree which has caused damage to cars parked nearby. Indeed two years ago the largest branch snapped off in high wind, luckily avoiding anything below. I would like to have the tree reshaped in an attempt to control the nuisance factor created by the tree itself as it attracts an unusually high level of wasps feeding from the aphids that are in the tree or from their excrement which falls to the ground below. The caustic tree sap has become a particular nuisance. Personally I am allergic to wasps and come close to being hospitalised when stung which has happened several times in the last few years. With increasing regularity we have had to have wasps nests removed from the tree which are a real hazard. Last summer we had 4 nests removed mainly from the lower branches. I can only anticipate this getting worse if the tree is allowed to grow in its current form. I have taken advice from several experts in the industry who are inclined to agree that our most favoured option would be to have the tree pollarded. (South Bucks Tree Services are the ones I am most likely to instruct to complete the works if they are allowed as they have been most helpful with their advice). I would of course serve to reshape the tree and hopefully prolong its life and eradicate most of the problems we currently experience. I have not taken the decision to make this application lightly as I am someone who takes the responsibility of my many trees very seriously. These seeds (and seedlings in the spring) are potentially fatal if eaten by horses. Veterinary research has now proven these seeds and seedlings can cause a typical Myopathy in horses. Tree T2 - I wish to remove the tree, after a site visit. It has no amenity value. It is surrounded by other trees (T1/T5). It has spread across a neighbours garden causing excessive shading and reducing light into her home. Due to its location, I do not believe it will be necessary to replace it, but will be guided by you. We had previously been given permission to remove T1, but instead chose to reduce and lift the crown. T2 Cypress Spec: S15 Fell tree to ground level.

Jubilee Gardens, Oxford Road, Thame

TPO 74/2009, Specification is G2 (11 Lime and 2 Walnut). The specific trees within G2 are 3 trees directly opposite the back of 2 Jubilee Gardens, highlighted in the enclosed sketch. Request: Preservation Order: Thame Area no. 74/2009 stated that on 22 September 2009 the council placed a tree preservation order on the trees surrounding our property. The reason given - the trees have been identified as making a contribution to the amenity of the local area. Unfortunately the trees were never pollarded this has resulted in the trees growing far too tall. The trees belong to Lord Williams School who I have been in contact with and they hae no objection to the tree felling as it would mean less cost for them to maintain. New trees had been planted in the Car park of the school 11 years ago (situated on the other side f the road from the trees in this request to be felled) and these have now grown to a height to take over the role of contributing to the amenity, (shielding the houses from the road).These three trees (approx 9 metres from the ouse) take most of the sunlight and water from the garden. The grass never grows properly as is constantly covered in falling branches, leaves, twigs and mos and suffers water loss due to the trees. We are also very restricted in the type of plants we can grow. The roof of the house and garage is constantly covered in moss and the house is very dark now, all very depressing. We would like you to consider if these trees at the edge of our property are absolutely necessary to the amenity of the area now considering the growth of the new trees directly behind them.

The trees run east along the south side of the private road from the addres above for -250m. The trees in question are those in contact with the old post and wire fencing. Removal of old post and wire fencing that is currently damaging the trees. This will include removal of the concreted metal fence posts, by hand with spade and pick (ie. no heavy machinery in the root zone). Install new wooden post and rail wooded fencing the edge of the road. This is approximately 2 metres away from the tree centres and borders the very edge of the TPO area. Stakes will be used for fence posts, there will be no use of concrete. The posts will be hand driven, there will be no heavy machinery in the root zone - Winter 2015/2016, lay a double row of Hawthorn hedge along the new fence line.
