The following trees are proposed for complete removal: 1 × Norway spruce (Tree 1 on sketch) – fell to ground level and remove the tree. 1 × Walnut (Tree 2 on sketch) – fell to ground level and remove the tree. 1 × Sycamore (Tree 3 on sketch) – fell to ground level and remove the tree. All three trees are to be completely removed, including the main stems and crowns. Stumps may be retained below ground level or ground out as appropriate. The trees are located within the rear garden of the property and are not visible from the public highway or other public viewpoints. They may be visible from neighbouring private gardens. The property has a relatively small rear garden and the existing trees occupy a substantial area of the garden within an established flower bed. Their current size and spread are disproportionate to the scale of the garden and dwelling and result in significant overshadowing of the house and garden. The proposed removal would allow the existing planting area to be reduced and the garden to be reconfigured to create a more proportionate and usable outdoor space. The intention is not to remove greenery or tree planting from the garden. Rather, the existing trees would be replaced with smaller, appropriately scaled trees that are better suited to the limited size of the garden and can be maintained at an appropriate mature scale. The replacement planting would retain a green and landscaped character and continue to provide tree cover, while allowing a greater proportion of the garden to remain usable and reducing the excessive overshadowing caused by the existing trees. Given that the trees are contained within the rear garden and have no visibility from the public realm, the proposal would have limited impact on public views of the conservation area. The proposed replacement planting would ensure that the garden continues to contribute positively to its green character.

T1. Lawson Cypress Rear Seating Area: The tree has suffered partial mortality on its south-east flank, most likely attributable to drought stress combined with its position. Removal of the dead section would result in a slightly unbalanced crown; however, this should not compromise the tree’s structural integrity. As a precaution, it is recommended that the tree be inspected at six-monthly intervals to monitor its ongoing condition. Update: T1 Lawson Cypress is now 70% dead & my client wishes to remove & replace this tree. Remove x 2 large dead stems. The tree's current height is 9m, and its crown spread is 4m After the proposed works, the tree's height is 9m, and the crown spread is 3m. G2. Lime Tree x 2 Rear Seating Area: Reduce the height by 2.5m and lateral spread by up to 2m, leaving a natural rounded form. Raise the low canopy to 5m, removing branches under 10cm in diameter. Remove dead branches throughout the crown area that are over 2.5cm in diameter, and inspect the crown for any adversities. The tree's current height is 11m, and its crown spread is 6m After the proposed works, the tree's height is 8.5m, and the crown spread is 4m. G3. Norway Maple x 2 Rear Seating Area: Reduce the height by 2m and lateral spread by up to 1.5m, leaving a natural, rounded form. Remove dead branches throughout the crown area that are over 2.5cm in diameter, and inspect the crown for any adversities. The tree's current height is 7m, and its crown spread is 4m After the proposed works, the tree's height is 5m, and the crown spread is 2.5m. T4. Cherry x 1 Rear Seating Area: Reduce the height by 2.5m and lateral spread by 1m to balance, leaving a natural rounded form. branches under 10cm in diameter. Remove dead branches throughout the crown area that are over 2.5cm in diameter, and inspect the crown for any adversities. The tree's current height is 8m, and its crown spread is 4m After the proposed works, the tree's height is 5.5m, and the crown spread is 3m.

As described on '33SHL-FruitTreeLocations.png': Red Cross Marked Tree - Mature Apple Tree (Eadible, unknown species) Blue Cross Marked Tree - Mature Pear Tree (Eadible, unknown species) Proposed Works: Apple Tree - Fell Pear Tree - Fell Reasoning: Apple Tree - main trunk shows poor tree form with multiple deformed and awkard branches. Tree overhangs neighbouring property (including outbuildings). Large quantities of apples produced presents a pest issue in the summer/autumn attracting hornets/wasps, rats/mice, birds. Tree creates excessive shading over remainder of modestly sized garden area. Pear Tree - main trunk shows poor tree form and leans excessively away from boundary fence across path through the garden. Large quantities of pears produced presents a pest issue in the summer/autumn attracting hornets/wasps, rats/mice, birds. Replacement Proposal: Replanting of a new apple tree and pear tree against boundary fence and grown as espaliers. Given the proximity of our property to School House Lane Orchard, proposal to the local community that run the orchard that I will plant a specialist variety apple tree in place.
