T1. Lawson Cypress Rear Seating Area: The tree has suffered partial mortality on its south-east flank, most likely attributable to drought stress combined with its position. Removal of the dead section would result in a slightly unbalanced crown; however, this should not compromise the tree’s structural integrity. As a precaution, it is recommended that the tree be inspected at six-monthly intervals to monitor its ongoing condition. Update: T1 Lawson Cypress is now 70% dead & my client wishes to remove & replace this tree. Remove x 2 large dead stems. The tree's current height is 9m, and its crown spread is 4m After the proposed works, the tree's height is 9m, and the crown spread is 3m. G2. Lime Tree x 2 Rear Seating Area: Reduce the height by 2.5m and lateral spread by up to 2m, leaving a natural rounded form. Raise the low canopy to 5m, removing branches under 10cm in diameter. Remove dead branches throughout the crown area that are over 2.5cm in diameter, and inspect the crown for any adversities. The tree's current height is 11m, and its crown spread is 6m After the proposed works, the tree's height is 8.5m, and the crown spread is 4m. G3. Norway Maple x 2 Rear Seating Area: Reduce the height by 2m and lateral spread by up to 1.5m, leaving a natural, rounded form. Remove dead branches throughout the crown area that are over 2.5cm in diameter, and inspect the crown for any adversities. The tree's current height is 7m, and its crown spread is 4m After the proposed works, the tree's height is 5m, and the crown spread is 2.5m. T4. Cherry x 1 Rear Seating Area: Reduce the height by 2.5m and lateral spread by 1m to balance, leaving a natural rounded form. branches under 10cm in diameter. T1 - Stone Pine Dimensions: Approx 18m Height, N12m, E6m, S8m, W2m. Proposed Works: Remove lowest limb back to the stem. Justification: The tree has a large over-extended lever arm growing to the north-west, roughly 12m in length. It protrudes well outside the line of the rest of the canopy and has been the subject of at least two previous applications, including one rejected by Richmond last year, showing this limb has been a concern to multiple separate arborists over a period of time. Recently a limb above it failed, came down and caused significant damage to the listed boundary wall to Old Palace Yard. The remaining lever arm sits above a busy public footpath with frequent historical tours passing through, a busy roadway and a run of car parking bays. Photographs from only two years ago show a noticeable flattening of the limb since, which adds to our concerns around end loading and mechanical stress at the union. With the failure we have been dealing with, there are no sufficient points left in the tree to brace from. On that basis we believe removal of the limb is the only suitable course of action, and given the target beneath it and the failure that has already occurred and no substantial reduction points.

T1- Ash tree- Remove and replace with Liquidambar tree. This tree has been a problem for many years. It grows adjacent to a street light on a busy road thus consuming and blocking the light for pedestrians & road users. it drops debris onto the footpath & road. The tree was last trimmed back in November 2023 and has now grown back over the footpath & road. There are branches breaking out and some panic growth visible. Suspicion that Ash dieback is present. The tree is covered in Ivy so the condition of the stem cannot be seen at this stage. The reason for the replanting of a Liquidambar tree is that it would have a nicer look on the road. T2- Small Nespola tree- Remove this tree. It doesn't add any benefit to the property or area and has been left to grow wild.
