Works: Trees
Still open. Anyone can comment while the consultation period runs, and comments go to the council rather than to us.
Proposal
1. Group G2 - Mixed Species Work: Prune to clear buildings by 1m. Reason: Branches are growing too close to the building. Pruning will provide a minimum 1 metre clearance and help prevent branch contact, abrasion to the structure and future maintenance issues. 2. Group G6 - Mixed Species Work: Prune to provide 2m clearance from neighbouring property. Reason: Vegetation is encroaching towards adjacent land. The pruning is recommended to maintain a reasonable separation from neighbouring property and prevent nuisance or potential damage. 3. Tree 5 (Tag 733) - Pittosporum Work: Prune to clear adjacent building by at least 1m. Reason: The survey records that the tree is growing at an angle and is in contact with the adjacent building, with the crown close to the structure. Pruning is required to remove contact and establish an appropriate clearance. 4. Tree 11 (Tag 737) - Turkey Oak Work: Crown lift to provide 5.2m clearance over the adjacent road. Reason: Low branches extend over the highway. Crown lifting is required to achieve the statutory highway clearance of approximately 5.2 metres and reduce the risk of vehicle strikes 5. Tree 21 (Tag 736) - Pittosporum Work: Prune to provide 2m clearance from the building. Reason: The survey notes that the crown is close to the building/infrastructure. Pruning will establish a suitable clearance and reduce the potential for branch contact with the structure.

T16 - Ash. Dismantle to ground level T25 - Cypress. Dismantle to ground level A1 - Mixed species. Crown raise to 5.5m over road only and 2.5m over footpath only Reason or works: Safety - T16 is a large mature tree that bifurcates at approximately 4m above ground level. Suspected history of limb loss at this union, bark dysfunction and compression fork formed. Large buttress root growing south from tree is causing significant disruption to neighbour's patio. T25 is dead A1 - to comply with the Highways Act 1980

T1 - Sycamore. Reduce southern aspect by 2m, maximum diameter of cut (MDC) 40mm. T2 - Sycamore. Reduce lower third of southern canopy by 1.5m, MDC 30mm T4 - Turkey Oak. Reduce height by approximately 6m to suitable growth points, MDC 175-200mm. Reduce north, south & west aspects by up to 3m, MDC 75mm. Reduce large eastern limb by 4-5m, MDC 125mm. Remove major hazardous deadwood. Reason for works: T1 & T2 are causing a nuisance to the neighbouring property 'Oakdene', over-dominance of their outdoor space and multiple branches have broken tiles and guttering of outbuildings. These works are considered arboriculturally appropriate. T4 is a fine mature specimen with a broad spreading canopy. Detailed inspection carried out in July 2021 showed multiple issue around the base of the tree; multiple fungi were present, Ganoderma resinaceum and Kretzschmaria deusta, both of which are known to be an aggressive decay fungi. Resistograph microdrill testing was carried out in 2021 and results show there has been a reduction in structural integrity. See report and drill testing results for further detail. The tree has been re-inspected more recently (October 2024) and conditions are not thought to have improved. Due to the tree's location with 1 Matford Rd, Oakdene and Matford Road a crown reduction is essential to reduce loadings at the base of the tree to reduce the significant risk of failure and to ensure the tree's longevity.

Ginko Tree next to and damaging the ancient cob wall between 1 Long Acres and the properties in Wayland Avenue. The Ginko is to be cut down to a height of between 1 and 2 metres to hopefully enable it to regrow but pruned regularly on the wall side of the trunk to train it away from the wall.

19 Falkland Close Exeter EX4 5EZ
Oak tree on no mans land embankment which over looks garden of 18 Falkland Close, Exeter, EX4 5EZ. It has a large branch overhanging our garden. Tree surgeon Mitchell Tree Surgery has visited site and advised it needs to be removed. He says it is a large overhanging heavy limb which could cause considerable damage. Last year a large branch from a neighbouring oak next to It came down in a storm and caused damage. Our neighbours in number 18 and ourselves are concerned about this particular branch we wish to report to be removed. The tree itself has grown to 60 foot plus range and we all feel our houses are at risk. Sketch plan attached
