Planning application

9 ASHDOWN CLOSE, CHANDLER'S FORD, EASTLEIGH, SO53 5QF

Decided Eastleigh T/26/101960 Consent under Tree Preservation Orders

Works: Trees

Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.

Proposal

1no. Maple (T1) – Crown reduction by 2m back to suitable previous growth points, maintaining a natural and balanced crown. Tree extends over the adjacent pavement and was previously pruned approx. 2 years ago and has since regrown sufficiently to encroach over the pavement again. A light cyclical reduction approx. every 2 years is recommended to maintain suitable clearance over the pavement and manage the tree's size. Please note, home owner has been issued with a letter requesting reduction of this tree over the pathway. It is requested that consideration be given to allowing this work to be undertaken on a regular cyclical basis, subject to the tree remaining in a suitable condition and the works being carried out in accordance with good arboricultural practice.

1no. Silver Birch (T1)– Fell 1no. leaning stem as shown in the report. Bifurcated at ground level secondary smaller stem has opened and pushed away from dominant stem. Recent lean indicates some central movement; the tree is leaning over the public right of way, therefore under grounds of health and safety to seek permission to remove. Diagrams as shown.

1no. Conifer (T1) – Remove to prevent further structural damage. The conifer is exerting pressure on the boundary fence, causing it to lean and become unstable. This is a practical and proportionate solution to address the current damage, improve the appearance of the garden, and ensure the boundary can be properly maintained.

1 No. Oak (297-E) - Remove growth from trunk to height 3m. Growth consists of five lateral branches all from the south west side of the Oak's trunk. This will rebalance the oak's previous shape, restore its historical crown height (~5m from ground level), increase light and prevent low branch obstruction.

1no. Redwood (T4, originates from no. 30) - Crown lift of bottom 9 branches, to increase the amount of light reaching ground level. This is necessitated due to the dense nature of the tree's branches. This amounts to no more than a crown lift of 1m.

    17 FOREST CLOSE, CHANDLER'S FORD, EASTLEIGH, SO53 1NB

1no. Silver Birch (T1) - Dismantle the to ground level. Replant with new Silver Birch as like-for-like replacement. Tree is in decline and is shedding significant deadwood from canopy. Main stem has an old major pruning/wound point with significant dysfunction and deterioration around the union. Remaining upright stem originates above this compromised area, creating potential structural weak point. The pronounced change in stem direction also places additional mechanical loading and leverage on weakened section, particularly during high winds.
