Remove all deadwood throughout the crown. Reason: Fungal brackets are present at the base of the stem, indicating potential decay within the lower stem and root buttress area. The proposed crown reduction is intended to lessen the mechanical loading on the tree and reduce the risk of failure, while retaining the tree's amenity value. Deadwood removal is also proposed as part of good arboricultural management and to mitigate the risk of falling branches.

Given the decay at the base and the tree's structural condition, retention is considered inappropriate due to the increased risk of failure and potential damage to adjacent wall. Removal is therefore proposed on safety grounds. T2 Hazel - removal The hazel occupies a prominent position within the garden and has become disproportionately large for its location, resulting in significant shading and overshadowing of the garden area. Removal is proposed to improve light levels and the amenity value of the garden.
