Planning application

2 Woodview Road, Faringdon, Oxon, SN7 8EL

Decided Vale of White Horse P15/V3246/TCA Works to trees in CA

Works: Trees Small domestic

Read from the description, not a valuation. How we read the register

Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.

Proposal

Large tree at bottom of garden of 1 Woodview. There is a large tree at the bottom garden of 1 Woodview. That tree overhangs into 56 Lechlade Road front of house. The closest branches are about 2 metres away from touching the property wall at 56 Lechlade. The base of the tree is about 9-10 metres away from the property. In the past 56 Lechlade has suffered subsidence as a result of trees within 1 Woodview getting out of control in terms of size. This required extensive structural work to the foundations of the property. There is much debris and sap falling onto cars within the boundary of 56 Lechlade such that we are unable to use the front area of our house where the tree hangs over. The owner was contacted in order to come to an arrangement about pruning the tree but is reluctant to do so, citing that the tree is not a bother and it was present long before the house was built. As such the owner refuses to prune the tree at all on his side, or any side for that matter. In addition, the risks are that the overhanging large branches could break causing either damage property or people underneath in the event of a storm of strong winds. The work we intend to do is to cut back the branches which overhang the boundary wall of 1 Woodview/56 Lechlade in a vertical line upwards and return the cuttings to the owner. If the Council believe that this will leave the work on the tree displeasing to the eye, perhaps they could instruct that the owner prunes the tree on his side. Remarks:
