T2897 - Sorbus (Sorbus aucuparia): Sectional dismantling to ground level due to structural concerns associated with low multi-stem unions, included bark and evidence of basal dysfunction. T2895 - Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus): Sectional dismantling to near ground level due to extensive stem decay, significant cavity formation and compromised structural integrity. T2896 - Norway Maple (Acer platanoides): Crown reduction by approximately 1.5?2.0 metres throughout the crown to reduce end-weight and improve crown balance, including removal of minor deadwood. T2892 - Pedunculate Oak (Quercus robur): Moderate crown reduction by approximately 1.5?2.0 metres throughout the outer crown extent to reduce loading associated with suspected internal stem dysfunction whilst retaining natural form. T2891, T2890, T2889, T2887 & T2884 - Sycamores (Acer pseudoplatanus): Crown reduction works between approximately 1.5-2.5 metres to reduce leverage and loading on co-dominant stems and included unions whilst retaining natural crown form and amenity value. T2886 - Pedunculate Oak (Quercus robur): Light crown reduction of extended lateral limbs by approximately 1.5-2.0 metres to improve crown balance and reduce end-weight loading. T2883 - Turkey Oak (Quercus cerris): Light crown reduction by approximately 1.5-2.0 metres to reduce loading on co-dominant stems and associated unions. Existing Cobra bracing system to be retained and monitored. T2882 - Monterey Cypress (Cupressus macrocarpa): Light crown reduction by approximately 1.5-2.0 metres radial spread together with removal of deadwood and fractured secondary limbs to reduce sail effect and loading on hollow stem sections. T2881 - Ornamental Cherry (Prunus spp.): Removal to ground level due to progressive structural dysfunction, decay and declining vitality. Stump grinding to be undertaken where practicable. What refusal means
The process from here
The council refused this application for the reasons set out on the decision notice, which the council portal holds in full. Only the applicant can appeal a refusal; the time limit runs from the decision date and is shorter for householder schemes.
Refusal does not prevent a fresh attempt. Applicants often address the reasons for refusal and resubmit, so a refused scheme is not necessarily the end of proposals for the site.
About trees applications
How this application type works
Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

T 030 - Multiple stemmed lapsed sycamore coppice. Growing on bank bordering road and in striking distance of third party properties to the north and south. Two primary stems to the north have been pollarded down to 3m. The eastern most stem has since died with large area of bark necrosis at 1.5m - 3m. The northern most stem which has had a primary limb pollarded is in severe decline with bark necrosis to the north at 2m. If the two stems are removed the remaining canopy will be biased totaly to the south and west and will be open to additional wind loading. Recommendations - Pollard to level already established, approximately 3m. Please see report excerpt for photos.
