Planning application

19 Alexander Crescent, Caterham, Surrey, CR3 5ZG

Decided Tandridge 2026/1030/TPO Consent under Tree Preservation Orders

Works: Trees

Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.

Proposal

T1) Callery Pear - Fell to ground level and replant same species within 3 metres of T1 (size: standard). Tree has been planted within the narrow shrub border situated between the front gardens of Nos. 19 and 20 Alexander Crescent. As the tree has matured, its root growth has begun to cause visible damage to the paving on both sides of the shrub border. In addition, the tree is causing excessive shading to the front windows of both properties, significantly reducing light ingress. Given that the tree has been planted in a restricted location where its continued growth is causing damage to surrounding features and adversely affecting natural light to the properties, its removal is recommended. It is further recommended that a replacement tree be replanted within the lawn area to the front of No. 19 Alexander Crescent, of the same species and a standard-sized specimen. This location would provide the tree with more suitable growing conditions while reducing the risk of damage to surrounding hard surfaces and excessive shading to the properties.
