Planning application

Carmel College, Mongewell, Wallinford, OX10 8BU

Granted South Oxfordshire P16/S4941/TPO Works to TPO

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

Poplar tree marked in red on attached plan. Our land is edged in red. The poplar tree has three main branches emerging from the main trunk at a height of 5 metres. The 3 main branches are over 50 metres in length/height. The point where the 3 main branches emerge collects water/leaf litter and is at risk of rot. Due to the great height of the tree, Dave Cottrell (tree surgeon) has advised reducing the height of the 3 branches in question by 1/3 in order to put less stress on the junction point. T1 Beech Spec: S1 The councils consents to the prposed tree works set out in Mrs Sandall's application for tree ... Reason: R1 Sound arboricultural management Reason: R6 Poor health, structural condition

What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
