Castle Priory Thames Street Wallingford OX10 0HD
T1 Weeping Willow - Re-Pollard – Remove all secondary growth back to the previously established pollard points on the main scaffold limbs. G2 Crack Willow – Multi-stemmed tree comprising three primary stems - Re-Pollard – Remove all secondary growth back to the previously established pollard points on the main scaffold limbs. G3 Holly x2 - Re-Pollard – Remove all secondary growth back to the previously established pollard points on the main scaffold limbs. T4 London Plane - Pollard – Pollard the tree at a height of approximately 8 metres above ground level, making suitable finishing cuts to the primary and secondary scaffold limbs to establish a framework from which the tree can be managed as a pollard over the long term. Additionally, remove the two lowest secondary scaffold limbs back to the main stem to provide suitable clearance above the Yew archway. G5 Holly x2 - Fell to ground level in a safe and controlled manner. T7 English oak - Fell to ground level in a safe and controlled manner. Reasons for Works: T1 & G2 – The proposed works are in line with the previous management of these trees. The secondary regrowth has now established to a point where the likelihood of branch failure is increasing. The works are therefore recommended to maintain the trees within their established management cycle and reduce the likelihood of failure. G3 & G5 – These trees are in a state of decline and are heavily clad in Ivy, limiting their suitability for continued long-term retention. Removal is therefore recommended. T4 – This tree is situated centrally within a green archway formed by Yew trees on either side. The long-term management intention has been to allow the tree to establish before introducing it into a pollarding cycle. The proposed works will establish a suitable pollard framework, allowing the tree to be managed in this form over the long term while complementing its setting within the archway. T7 – The tree is situated on the roadside boundary and oversails both the public footway and carriageway. The tree is in a terminal state of decline, increasing the likelihood of branch or structural failure. Given its condition and proximity to frequently used targets, removal is recommended to manage the associated risk.

Tree Haven Sotwell Street Brightwell-cum-Sotwell Wallingford OX10 0RH
Four Yew trees at the rear of the property along the western boundary adjacent to a private lane, as indicated in the attached report. As per recommendations made by the arboriculturist in his report, prune low branches of T1, T2 and T3, by removal of lower growth up to a height of approximately 3m from ground level (ground level being taken as top of the bank where trees are rooted). This will target both tertiary and secondary branches. The fourth tree (T4) in the group is to have lower branches retained from approximately 50cm to 1.5m from ground level (ground level being taken as top of the bank where trees are rooted). These branches are forming a small natural boundary hedge that shields neighbouring property’s private road. Prune branches above the height of the lower retained section to create a window of daylight by pruning secondary and tertiary branches to a height of approximately 3m from ground level (ground level- taken from root zone area). This will remove x1 low branch growing over shed back to source. The branch above this will be pruned to a height of approximately 3m from ground level by removal of secondary branches. Remove deadwood from within crowns. Due to the density of this, it is thought that a greater ingress of dappled light will filter through the crown when removed. Selectively prune lateral branches from trees T3 and T4 over garden side by removal of up to 1m of lateral growth, blending in remaining upper growth to form flowing crown form as viewed from garden. Prune apical branches of T4 by up to 1m to form an opening between lower branches of adjacent Beech tree to allow light ingress between the two layers of crown and lower branch scaffolds.
