FIVE DAY NOTICE Apply to fell Wellingtonia (Sequoiaderdron giganteum) 1 of 4 in a group TPO to the front of Gillotts School. Following topographical and quality survey in August 2014 this tree is showing signs of significant and irreversible decline. Given the proximity to adjacent school buildings, roadway and parking area the tree should be removed for sound arobiricultural reasons. Fell to ground and remove. Tree report: Topographical and Quality: ACD Arboriculture for Gillotts School 21.8.14. The school has recorded 3 incidents in the previous 12 months when large branches have split and dropped from height onto patio area below. Twice this occurred during school day where children gather to enter to AA/ITC block and to exit/enter the school site. There is a duty of care by the school to take a special responsibility to ensure safety of children. These health and safety concerns should be taken into account also. Occupiers liability Act 1957 and 1984). All four trees in group have roots that persistently ingress the school drainage system. G1 Group consisting of 4 Wellingtonia Spec: S15 Fell tree to ground level. Reason: R1 Sound arboricultural management Reason: R2 To ensure future compatibility with site, surroundings and usage Reason: R4 To address potential hazard Reason: R6 Poor health, structural condition of form (delete as appropriate) Reason: R7 Close to building, services, road or public highway (delete as appropriate)

Giant Sequoia - Removal due to canopy decline, the tree is location within close proximity ICT/art block. As the tree is located at the entrance/exit of the school there is a very high risk of danger from limb break outs. Children, staff and visitors use the patio area under the tree daily to get to the ICT/art block and enter/leave school. The tree appears to be in rapid decline, we have attached photographs of the tree in October 2019 and September 2021. The tree is the last remaining tree in the raised bed, with suspected honey fungus. Work - Fell to ground level.

T1: Birch: Twin stemmed Birch with a crown break a couple of feet above ground level. This tree has had cobra bracing installed and has previously had a crown reduction undertaken due to the applicants concerns over its safety with its close proximity to their own and neighbouring properties and the high volume of pedestrians who walk past the house particularly during the school pick up and drop off timings. The applicant wishes to reduce the height of the tree by 4 metres, to a point just above the previous pruning points and the lateral branches by up to 1 metre. T2, T3 and T4: Birch: Applicant wishes to carry out a 2m crown reduction of all 3 trees. These trees were planted by the applicant on the basis that they would be maintained as small trees owing to the size of space in this area of the garden and the proximity of buildings.

There are two trees in the front garden Permission is requested to fell both trees. Tree 1 = Weeping Birch Tree Tree 2 = Maple Tree Weeping Birch (Tree 1) This has become too large for the site, the roots are lifting the paving around it, making it a trip hazard. Roots have also entered the nearby drains, causing problems. Permission is sought to fell the tree, to make safe access to the property and to make space on the driveway for off street parking. (There is a nearby primary school, and parking can be a challenge.) Maple (Tree 2) This tree has also become too big for its location, which is very close to the boundary of No. 5 and No. 7 Vicarage Rd, causing lifting of the paving around it. It is also very close to both houses. Permission is sought to fell this tree.
