Proposal
T1 - Scots Pine Scots Pine (T1) - fell because considered unsafe. A 25% crown reduction was carried out, with consent from your office in January 2011; to reduce weight and "sail effect". Unfortunatelym, the lean of T1 has worsened through 2013-2014, possibly resultig from strong winds. The lean is opposing an incomplete lateral root structure due to a ditch (infilled) which runs on the boundary between No.3 Bell Close and the cricket pitch. Remarks:

3 Bell Close, Thame, Oxon, OX9 3AN
T1 - Scots Pine T1 - Scots Pine. Fell to ground level. This tree has a marked lean which may well be progressive. The tree has also been subject to works that have reduced the height of the tree and thereby lessened its natural crown shape and amenity value. There was an old drainage ditch that ran to the south of this tree and within 1.5m of the base of the tree. This ditch has been filled in within recent years. It would appear that the location of the ditch has impeded the normal development of supporting roots on this side of the tree. It is quite possible that this has led to the lean which this tree has and can be seen from the photos attached. There is some risk that this tree could fail and would fall towards the property. The tree owner has been allowing a pink flowering Hawthorn to develop below T1. This tree will benefit from the space and light that would result from removal of T1. The owner also intends to plant a new small to medium sized ornamental tree following the removal of T1. The new tree and the Hawthorn will grow on and continue to provide amenity value as viewed from the adjacent cricket ground. Remarks:

GP1 - Beech GP1 - Several Beech in a line beside the drive. These trees appear to have been planted as a boundary hedge to Bell Close. They have not been maintained as such. We intend to reduce them to an even height of 3m and reduce the spread to restore them as a hedge. They do not have room to develop as trees as there are overhead cables directly above. Beech, Hazel and Hawthorn. Bell Close has a mixed species hedge consisting of Beech, Hazel and Hawthorn. Our client would like to apply to have all of the hedge reduced by 1/2 a metre. This will cut back the growth from over the road and contain it so that it does not interfere with the electricity and telephone lines located at the Close. Remarks:

T1: Birch: Twin stemmed Birch with a crown break a couple of feet above ground level. This tree has had cobra bracing installed and has previously had a crown reduction undertaken due to the applicants concerns over its safety with its close proximity to their own and neighbouring properties and the high volume of pedestrians who walk past the house particularly during the school pick up and drop off timings. The applicant wishes to reduce the height of the tree by 4 metres, to a point just above the previous pruning points and the lateral branches by up to 1 metre. T2, T3 and T4: Birch: Applicant wishes to carry out a 2m crown reduction of all 3 trees. These trees were planted by the applicant on the basis that they would be maintained as small trees owing to the size of space in this area of the garden and the proximity of buildings.

There are two trees in the front garden Permission is requested to fell both trees. Tree 1 = Weeping Birch Tree Tree 2 = Maple Tree Weeping Birch (Tree 1) This has become too large for the site, the roots are lifting the paving around it, making it a trip hazard. Roots have also entered the nearby drains, causing problems. Permission is sought to fell the tree, to make safe access to the property and to make space on the driveway for off street parking. (There is a nearby primary school, and parking can be a challenge.) Maple (Tree 2) This tree has also become too big for its location, which is very close to the boundary of No. 5 and No. 7 Vicarage Rd, causing lifting of the paving around it. It is also very close to both houses. Permission is sought to fell this tree.
