Proposal
T1 - Scots Pine T1 - Scots Pine. Fell to ground level. This tree has a marked lean which may well be progressive. The tree has also been subject to works that have reduced the height of the tree and thereby lessened its natural crown shape and amenity value. There was an old drainage ditch that ran to the south of this tree and within 1.5m of the base of the tree. This ditch has been filled in within recent years. It would appear that the location of the ditch has impeded the normal development of supporting roots on this side of the tree. It is quite possible that this has led to the lean which this tree has and can be seen from the photos attached. There is some risk that this tree could fail and would fall towards the property. The tree owner has been allowing a pink flowering Hawthorn to develop below T1. This tree will benefit from the space and light that would result from removal of T1. The owner also intends to plant a new small to medium sized ornamental tree following the removal of T1. The new tree and the Hawthorn will grow on and continue to provide amenity value as viewed from the adjacent cricket ground. Remarks:

About trees applications
How this application type works
Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

GP1 - Beech GP1 - Several Beech in a line beside the drive. These trees appear to have been planted as a boundary hedge to Bell Close. They have not been maintained as such. We intend to reduce them to an even height of 3m and reduce the spread to restore them as a hedge. They do not have room to develop as trees as there are overhead cables directly above.
