T1 - Scots Pine T2 - Red Horse Chestnut This application is for the removal of two trees within the boundary of Lewknor C of E Primary School. During the school day they are on land owned by the Church of England which is rented to OCC. Out of school hours it is publicly accessible. The trees are within the village CA but are not subject to a TPO. The trees are a lone dead Scots Pine, now starting to decay, an Aesculus x carnea, red horse chestnut. This second tree is the cause of greatest concern as over the last few months several large bows have snapped off from the main trunk due to excessive foliage on split and unhealthy bows. The main trunk has large splits up its entire length and a very substantial second trunk is likely to come away at any time. It came away on 27 September (see photo). The tree, while attractive is an artificial hybrid and is not indigenous to this country. For the safety of the school children and the general public we intend to remove these two trees. The enclosed map shows the site of the red horse chestnut and the old scots pine. Pic ref 01 is of the pine, pic ref 02 is of the red horse chestnut. Pic ref 03 shows the recently planted maidenhair tree (ginko), a prehistoric native tree which we feel is very special. There are many huge beech and yew trees on site at the school. Remarks:
