The Old Bakehouse, Baker Street, Aston Tirrold, Didcot, OX11 9DD
T1 - Yew T1 - Yew - we would like to prune the Yew tree, cutting a number of branches to take it away from the house and also some at the top to reduce its height. We need to undertake thse works for the following reasons: a) the branches are getting too close to the house. b) the scale of the tree means there is a lack of air around the back of the house and the shading from the tree is damaging our thatch roof. c) the buds from the tree are dropping into the thatch and are also continually blocking our drains. We recognise the tree's qualities but it needs to be maintained and managed. The works will be undertaken by qualified tree specialist and there will be no impact on our neighbours or the conservation area. Remarks:

P17/S4789/TCA Decided

T1 - Ash T2 - Ash T1 - Ash - reduce by 50%. The tree has developed a crack from the ground to about 7' up and to a depth of about the centre of the trunk. To prevent twisting and perhaps breaking out, a 50% reduction will remove the weight and give a longer lifespan to that remaining part. T2 - Ash - Reduce top branches by 15'. Removal of the protection afforded to the upper part of this tree by the adjacent ash (Ash 1 - 50% reduction) the upper branches which are spindly, are prone to wind damage as they now become exposed. However, T8 is colonised by the decay causing fungi Ganoderma applanatum and following a resistograph test and investigation by arbor specialists Gristwood & Toms and inspection by SODC and OCC Tree Officers it has been concluded that T8 has a limited safe remaining life expectancy and should be felled. This work will be carried out by specialist firm Foremost Tree Surgeons and all necessary permits and licences will be obtained prior to works being carried out to the tree T8. Once dismantled, the T8 stump will be ground down and all debris branches and shavings will be removed from site by the contractor and the site left clean safe and tidy. 2 no. replacement trees Common Lime will be hand planted in the positions marked on Plans 'Tree 8 Location and Replacement Trees Location & Specification 1' and 'Replacement Trees Location 2'. P17/S5058/TPO Granted
Highlands and Charnwood House, Station Road & Reading Road, Lower Shiplake
T1 - Cedar - this is the larger of the two trees that together, form a communal crown. Ground level external visual inspection of the base and root plate area show nothing of note. From the ground based observation numerous splits and torn out branches were noted. Major structural unions also exhibit signs of swelling and bulging associated with internal fractures, hazard beams and torsional splits typical in certain typres of Cedar of which these are possibly cultivars with inherent genetic weakness. The overall form noted from the ground based indicates the loss of the leader historically. During the climbing inspection to look at structural condition more closely, in order to gauge the nature of defects, it was observed that the leader had been lost historically, and the subsequent regrowth has led to a multileader form with a poor union that has attempted to fuse above the previous failure point. Integrity of the fusion could not be gauged although given its size and age of the failure; it is assumed the fusion is sound. Throughout the climbing inspection numerous split unions, tear out wounds and historically failed branches were observed throughout the canopy, although no meaningful remedial work has been carried out to mitigate these breakages. Some historical work indicated excessive internal thinning in places. The climbing inspection has shown that the crown has good vitality throughout with expected future levels of yearly extension growth. Option 1: Carry out canopy reduction with the goal being to create an even taper and end weight reduction of all over developed limbs by approximately 2-3m on selected laterals, with other laterals reduced by 1.0m to achieve crown balance. Option 2: Carry out dynamic non-invasive bracing of upper leaders to assist natural fusion of poor union. T2 - Cedar - The smaller of the two trees that form a communal crown. A ground level visual inspection of the base and root plate area show nothing of note. From a ground based observation, numerous splits and torn out branches were observed. Major structural unions also exhibit signs of swelling and bulging associated with internal fractures, hazard beams and torsional splits typical of certain types of Cedars, of which these are possibly cultivars with inherent genetic weakness. Also noted during the ground based inspection is multi leader form that is potentially either caused by loss of leader through inclement weather or historical pruning works. Upon carrying out the climbing inspection it was noted, much like its sister tree, that there are numerous defects such as torn out branches at unions, hazard beams and spiral fractures. The multi-leader form shows no sign of what caused this growth habit. All unions appeared sound and stable. Carry out canopy reduction with the goal being to create even taper and end weight reduction of all overdeveloped limbs by approximately 2-3m on selected lateals with other laterals reduced by 1.0m to achieve crown balance. G5 2 Cedar of Lebanon Spec: S1 T1 and T2 Please see recommended works in application. Spec: S19 Please add the following at the end of all the aprroved works: All pruning cuts must be made at bra Reason: R1 Sound arboricultural management Reason: R2 To ensure future compatibility with site, surroundings and usage

T1 - Silver Birch G2 - Beech T3 - Prunus spp T4 - Hornbeam T5 - Cherry T1 - Silver Birch - located close to garage. Single stem with well-formed crown above, no major defects noted. Laterals to NE overhang and in contact with garage roof. Low laterals impeding garden maintenance. Recommended works: General manageent: Reduce laterals over garage to provide 1-1.5m clearance. Crown lift sub-branches to give 2m clearance of lawn area. G2 - Beech - linear group of Beech, consisting of 4 stems forming a boundary screen. Previously reduced to approximately 3m in height, now with 1-1.5m regrowth above. Stem next to garage close grown with lateals in contact with roof and gutter. Recommended works: General management: remove stem next to garage to just above ground level. Reduce height back to previous points and lateral spread both sides to contain. T3 - Prunus Spp - Small garden variety with spreading crown form. Climbing rose growing up stem and into crown. No works at present. T4 - Hornbeam - Close grown to rear boundary, with NE laterals overhanging neighbouring garden. Multi-stemmed from basal fork, with upright crown form above. NW sub-stem removed just above main fork creating an aysummetrical crown form. No major defects noted. No works required at present due to its location and growth habit. T5 - Cherry - Close grown to rear boundary. Main fork at 1m with spreading crown form above. Some remedial works now advised. General management: crown reduce height by 1m and lateral spread by 1.5-2m. Remarks:
