FIVE DAY NOTICE T4 - Cedar - A visual inspection of the root area and buttresses shows no signs of recent disturbance, fruiting bodies or any other outwardly obvious defect. The crown overall shows good vitality although present are a number of historic failures which has altered the crowns balance. Remedial works had been carried out to try and restore balance in the past. The recent high winds have unfortunately caused a further failure. This limb had a tight union which could not withstand the high winds. Further breakages occurred when this collapsed. During the aerial inspection further tight unions were observed. Of most concern was a shear type split at approx 12 metres on the north side above this is a large curving leader with various candle shoots, this leader goes to the south towards neighbouring dwellings. Due to the number of historic failures and recent failure along with less than idea tight unions on various laterals, a shear type split on the upper stem and unbalanced crown, I feel future management options are limited and would adversely affect the appearance of this tree with potentially limited success. I feel a fell and replant may be the best option. T4 Cedar of Lebanon Spec: S16 Fell tree to ground level and grind stump.
