Planning application

12 Capilano Park Aughton Ormskirk Lancashire L39 5HA

Awaiting decision Sefton T/2026/0087/TPO Works to Protected Trees

Works: Trees

Still open. Anyone can comment while the consultation period runs, and comments go to the council rather than to us.

Proposal

The trees are shown on the plan for Capilano Park Aughton attached to the above mentioned order (15) 2004. There are 3 lime trees identified collectively as G 2 on the plan and described separately in the order as a 'group of trees' namely 3 mature lime trees. Full details are shown in photos attached to my existing written application to fell the dead lime nearest to the boundary with 15 Capilano Park and remove a broken branch from the lime tree furthest from 15 Capilano Park. Since lodging that written application and as the season has progressed we have noticed that the 2 live lime trees furthest from 15 Capilano Park and forming part of G 2 have a number of dead branches which require removal. We seek permission to instruct a tree surgeon to remove all such dead branches. We are anxious to prevent the danger of such branches falling on to the footpath which runs close to the lime trees or into our garden.

What happens while it is decided

The process from here

This application is with Sefton for determination. The council publicises it, consults neighbours and technical bodies where required, and weighs the responses against local and national planning policy.

The statutory target is eight weeks for most applications and thirteen for major development, though extensions of time are common. Comments carry most weight while the case is undecided, so check the council portal for the deadline if you want to respond.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
