Quercus ilex in front garden. Requesting crown reduction back to previous pruning cuts visible from 2015. Reduce in height by 2-3m, reduce laterals by 1-2m & shape. Nothing bigger than 5cm diameter to be cut as advised by consulted tree surgeon (Bartlett's), who would be employed to undertake the works. Reasons for work- concern re damage to tree from Coaches (to Kew Gardens) reduction would prevent interference from large vehicles whilst maintaining shape of crown.

Quercus ilex (Holm Oak) T1 on the sketch plan (51KG-01 Sketch plan.JPG). Front garden of number 51 Kew Green. Proposed reduction of crown (51KG-07 Requested size.JPG) to the height of the parapet of the property, a reduction of approximately 3m and reduced in width/spread by 2m on all sides away from building, and up to 1m on the building side where it has grown less due to the building shadow and north facing aspect. Proposed removal of the lower limb (51KG-03 Front view, lower limb.jpeg) Reasons for work: The Quercus ilex is now dwarfing the property and limiting light, (51KG-02 Elevation view.jpeg) The Quercus ilex is overhanging the pavement and road, branches are frequently snapped off by coaches on Kew Green (51KG-04 Elevation view with Coach.jpeg). Quercus ilex is a large landscape tree, a suitable size for the neighbouring RBG Kew and Kew Green itself. It is out of context as a domestic tree in this setting.(51KG-06 wider view.jpeg) It is likely that this tree was never intended to be grown in this position. (51kg-05 Historic view from KG.JPG). The large landscape trees in the landscape are all either on Kew Green itself, or borrowed landscape from RBG Kew. None of the domestic settings have trees of this size in their front gardens, being limited to cherries and olives of between 2.5m-4m tall. The householders would like to keep the existing tree, as per the TPO, but at a size that is more suitable for its setting, not interfering with the house, pavement, or public highway.
