There is a large cavity at ground level probed to 1m depth and 1.5m width originating between the buttress roots on the south side of the stem, located directly beneath the bifurcation, There is black staining within the cavity. As this cavity is large and at ground level there are significant forces acting on this area. We would recommend that the crown of the tree is crown reduced by up to 3.5m in height and 3m lateral spread in order to reduce the lever forces on the stem and reduce the chances of complete failure from the base/bifurcation reducing the risk posed to adjacent property.
