Street Record Carham Berwick Borough Footpath 011 Carham Northumberland

Awaiting decision Northumberland National Park 26/03194/FUL Full Application

Still open. Anyone can comment while the consultation period runs, and comments go to the council rather than to us.

Proposal

Temporary access to the river/channel will be provided, including vegetation clearance where required. The working area around Bridge Pier 3 will be dewatered using temporary works, including a temporary watercourse diversion via upstream and downstream bagwork cofferdams and a PVC pipe (or suitable alternative) to maintain flows. Riverbed and bank materials will be excavated to formation level, followed by installation of a geotextile layer and rip-rap protection around Pier 3. The rip-rap will be backfilled and tied into upstream and downstream bed levels using reinstated site-won material, with bed levels reprofiled to provide a smooth transition over 2m. Excavated riverbanks will be reinstated using site-won material at slopes up to 1:2, covered with topsoil and biodegradable geotextile, and grass seeded to promote vegetation establishment.
