    DM/2026/00234 Submitted 24 Feb 2026 0.1 miles away

Proposed work to the following trees from our front garden: Up to 30% reduction of a yew (T1) approx 39ft with a girth of 7.8 located 36ft from house. and Removal of a spruce (T3) approx 68ft with a girth of 9ft located 13ft from house. The trees are situated on the southern boundary of our house adjacent to the road to Tintern. Recent storms and the resulting loss of life and damage to homes caused by falling trees has made us very nervous given the proximity of these large trees to our house. An arboricultural survey undertaken in 2017 reported that the trees were already beginning to dominate the space between the boundary wall and our house and had considerably more growth potential. The report recommended removal of these trees due to potential for wind throw in extreme weather conditions. Recent storm events have caused us to revisit the professional advise we received and we are now seeking permission to remove these trees.

A western red ceder (T2) approx 92ft with a girth of 13ft located 25 ft from the house. A spruce (T3) approx 68ft with a girth of 9ft located 13ft from the house. The three trees are situated on the southern boundary of our house, adjacent to the road to Tintern. Recent storms and the resulting loss of life and damage to homes caused by falling trees has made us very nervous given the proximity of these very large trees to our house. An arboricultural survey undertaken in 2017 reported that the trees were already beginning to dominate the space between the boundary wall and our house and had considerably more growth potential. The report recommended removal of these trees due to 'potential for wind throw in extreme weather conditions'.
