Works: Trees
Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.
Proposal
Communal area (rear of 18 Highbury Terrace) (T1) Lime (Tilia spp) - On the MEWS side of the tree, a (maximum) reduction of 5-6m of the overlong branches (including height), reducing them back into the crown so that they are balanced with the lighter reduction on the communal garden side. On the communal garden side reduce the overlong branches back into the crown by 3-5m. This needs to be a sensitive reduction, balancing the crown, maintaining natural shape, whilst significantly reducing the weight in the upper crown . Remove all deadwood from the crown. Remove all trunk epicormic growth N.B. The aim of this reduction is to reduce the overall crown whilst retaining as much natural shape to the tree. (T2) Laburnum (Laburnum anagyroides) - Crown reduce the height by 3m, reduce the lateral growth by 1m to create oval shape.

(T1) Elder - this tree is growing against the wall of 16 Highbury Terrace Mews. If left and allowed to grow, this could cause structural problems with the wall. This tree is approximately 3m from the rear of the building and tree is approximately 13m tall. (T1) Lime - Tree is an old pollard, approximately 18m tall, with approximately 2m of regrowth. The tree is located right at the rear of number 17 Highbury Terrace. The tree is significantly overhanging the flats at the back and blocking a lot of light and posing a risk to property and people from falling limbs. Proposing to reduce entire crown to 4m below existing pollard points (6m) in order to mitigate risk of falling branches and shorten the tree for future maintenance as a pollard.
