Awaiting decision Haringey HGY/2026/2456 Consent under Tree Preservation Orders

Works: Trees

Still open. Anyone can comment while the consultation period runs, and comments go to the council rather than to us.

Proposal

Works to trees protected by a TPO. T1) Holm oak - Perform a 20% crown thin to increase light penetration and reduce wind resistance, safeguarding the tree against future storm damage. Remove all epicormic growth and lower suckers up to the main crown break. Prune and clear lateral branches to establish safe clearance distances from both the adjacent highway and building structures. These structural mitigations are necessary because the tree exhibits basal decay, which compromises its load-bearing capacity. Reducing the canopy's "sail effect" lowers structural stress and promotes long-term health and stability T2) Holm oak - Perform a 20% crown thin to increase light penetration and reduce wind resistance, safeguarding the tree against future storm damage. What happens while it is decided

The process from here

This application is with Haringey for determination. The council publicises it, consults neighbours and technical bodies where required, and weighs the responses against local and national planning policy.

The statutory target is eight weeks for most applications and thirteen for major development, though extensions of time are common. Comments carry most weight while the case is undecided, so check the council portal for the deadline if you want to respond.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

T1: Eucalyptus tree at 83 Fortis Green The eucalyptus tree is leaning towards the adjoining property at No. 32 Western Road. Approval is sought to lift the lower limb and reduce it back to the boundary fence line only to provide adequate clearance from the neighbouring property. The proposed works are limited to the lower limb extending towards No. 32 Western Road and are intended to improve clearance while retaining the overall form and health of the tree. No additional pruning beyond the boundary fence line reduction is proposed.

T1 - Ash - Crown reduction by 3m in height bringing lateral growth to shape by 1.5m. Removal of all major dead wood, leaving the tree a standing height of 9m. Reducing the crown by approximately 3 meters in height and 1.5 meters laterally will help reduce overall crown weight and wind loading, while maintaining a balanced and proportionate crown.
