Planning application

14 Rydon Lane Exeter EX2 7AW

Refused Exeter 24/1297/TPO Works to Protected Trees (TPO)

Works: Trees

Refused. Only the applicant can appeal, within the statutory time limit, and a revised scheme can be submitted instead.

Proposal

Large Holm Oak (T1) on the boundary between 14 Rydon Lane and 12A Rydon Lane. On advice from our tree surgeon, we are asking for permission to reduce the size of the crown by 3m. We are requesting that the large lateral branch on road side to main stem, which crosses phone wires, cycle path and road, be removed. This tree drops debris onto cycle path, which could cause an accident to cyclists alongside a very busy and fast road. The large lateral branch is encroaching on phone wires which could cause damage during moderate to severe weather.

Please see Plan attached. This plan was submitted with a similar application on 7 October 2020. T 1 was felled in 2020. T2 and T3 were pollarded. T2 and T3 require pollarding again because of their proximity to the house. See detail on plan.) T3 is already touching the house and over the roof.

    11 Devonshire Place Exeter EX4 6JA

The tree is a Cypress tree located at the front of 11 Devonshire place, to the right hand side when looking at the house. We would like to replace the tree with a native tree species - either a rowan or a cherry - in order to provide flowers for pollinators in the spring/summer and food for birds in the winter. We would like to do the removal in late (~Nov) 2026, well after the bird breeding season, in order to plant the new tree in early 2027 after the last frosts. The tree itself sits at the boundary of a conservation area.

    11 Devonshire Place Exeter EX4 6JA

The tree is a silver birch. We would like to carry out "crown reduction" reducing the height of the tree from ~10m to ~7m. Similarly, we would like to reduce the spread of the crown at the rear to reduce the amount of overhang with our rear neighbours. We will keep the left-right spread similar, only carrying out "crown thinning" in this respect to ensure the tree does not block too much light from our neighbours' gardens and our own.

Mixture of bay and cherry large shrubs to remove, which have become overgrown in the contained area next to the electricity sub station. We have removed what we can so far, but need approval to remove the rest, as they are around 5 inches at waist height. Plan to remove fully as no remedial value where they are located. Approx 20 stems to remove WHAT3WORDS is stow.poetic.skills
