Planning application
Sydenham House Blackboy Road Exeter Devon EX4 6SX
Works: Trees
Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.
Proposal
I have been asked to reduce back some branches/crown lift a tree over the driveway at Sydenham House as the bin lorry is catching the branches of a purple beech. I would be crown lifting by approx. 5 metres and cutting the branches back by a little under half to keep the shape but keep the tree back off the drive. I am aware that the property is within a conservation area and so would you please let me know whether I can simply do this or whether further information is required. Please see the attached photo which shows the purple beech just before the drive curves around.

T1 - Monterey Cypress Suggested Works: Remove lowest south eastern limb back to source. Reduce south eastern crown by 1.5-2 metres, approximately in line with the middle of the road. Rationale: These works are suggested as part of the reasonable management of this large roadside tree and to try to ensure that it does not begin to interfere with the traffic.

T1 - Apple, crown reduce to previous pruning points and thin by 10% T2 - Apple, fell to ground level T3 - Apple, fell to ground level T4 - Pear, fell to ground level T5 - Plum, minimal prune to tidy and reshape Reason for works: The trees have become unmanageable in the small rear garden and are now dominating the neighbouring gardens leading to multiple complaints from the neighbours. The boundary wall is needing assessment as damage from the trees' (T2, T3 & T4) close proximity to the wall is evident.

The neighbours in the adjoining property, The Old Rectory in Matford Lane, are supportive of the proposal. Ginko Tree next to and damaging the ancient cob wall between 1 Long Acres and the properties in Wayland Avenue. The Ginko is to be cut down to a height of between 1 and 2 metres to hopefully enable it to regrow but pruned regularly on the wall side of the trunk to train it away from the wall.

Our neighbours in number 18 and ourselves are concerned about this particular branch we wish to report to be removed.
