Planning application

157 Pennsylvania Road Exeter Devon EX4 5DF

Granted Exeter 21/0930/TPO Works to Protected Trees (TPO)

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

Identified as T1 on the sketch plan. It is an English Oak TPO no.338. The tree is healthy but has developed the "stag's head" common these days on many oaks which in my opinion is down to our changing climate though can also be in part due to stress around root area. Anyway, it has developed dead wood predominantly in the center at the top of the crown and it is this bear wood that we wish to remove for safety reasons aswell as improving the appearance. The largest of these is maximum 3 metres long and approximately 6 inches diameter where it would be removed. There are 5 other smaller dead branches near to this (to the side and below) that are clear to see which we would also like to remove.

T1 Quercus Cerris, Mature, approx height 26m. Attached In photos is a letter from Devon county council saying there are cracks at branch forks over the road, additionally to that the vast amount of weight of the tree is growing out over the road. Pictures attached. Applying for permission to reduce the lower branches over the road by approx 4m to reduce the weight of the limbs and a light reduction of approx 2 meters to the rest of the tree. It looks like its been reduced in areas in the past. All work would be back to growth points. T2 Ash tree. Height of approx 10m. Suffering from Ash die back and has been making the Oak tree grow off on an angle. There are several phone wires running through the tree. Applying for removal.
