Planning application

128 KINGSWAY, CHANDLER'S FORD, EASTLEIGH, SO53 5DW

Granted Eastleigh T/26/101259 Consent under Tree Preservation Orders

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

T1 – Quercus robur (Oak) Background: The tree was deadwooded within the past 24 months; however, it has continued to decline. Fungal brackets are now present around the base of the tree on all sides, indicating potential structural decay. Justification: Due to the tree’s close proximity to the property—with the main trunk located within inches of the structure—and its ongoing decline, it now presents a significant risk should failure occur. Proposed works: Removal of the tree and replacement with a standard Quercus robur (Oak) to be replanted in a more suitable location within the rear garden, ensuring appropriate future growth and relationship to nearby structures. The replacement tree will help to ensure overall amenity value within the garden. A new location within the garden away from site of existing fungus will allow a better chance of survival for new tree.

3 no. Silver Birch (G1) - Reduce outer Silver Birch by house by 3m to the same height as the middle tree. This work will reduce the sale effect of the canopy above the fork. The silver birch closest to garage - Reduce by 1.5m to the same height as the middle tree. This will leave all three trees at the same height and a balanced, natural canopy. 1 no. oak tree (T1) - reduce overhanging branches to leave 3m clearance from roof of property. 1 no. Silver Birch (T2) - Remove and re-plant with standard Silver Birch. 1 no. Silver Birch (T3) - tree located next to gates by bank of stream. Reduce by 2.5m to reduce sale effect and leave balanced canopy.

2no. Yew (on border between 115 & 113 Kingsway) - Crown reduction of 2.5 meters. The trees have grown considerably in the last 12-13 years and now it is not possible to get a signal to the satellite dish installed on 115 Kingsway.

1no. Silver birch (T1) - Reduce in height and spread by 3m to balance canopy and improve amenity value to other road users. 1no. Yew (T2) - Crown lift to 3m over pavement, reduce in height and spread by 2m for the same reasons as T1. 1no. Sycamore (T3) - Fell. Significant longitudinal crack extends 4m up main stem, the whole way through the stem, making likelihood of failure in strong winds a high possibility.

    11 VALLEY ROAD, CHANDLER'S FORD, EASTLEIGH, SO53 1GQ

1 No. Oak (297-E) - Remove growth from trunk to height 3m. Growth consists of five lateral branches all from the south west side of the Oak's trunk. This will rebalance the oak's previous shape, restore its historical crown height (~5m from ground level), increase light and prevent low branch obstruction.

1no. Redwood (T4, originates from no. 30) - Crown lift of bottom 9 branches, to increase the amount of light reaching ground level. This is necessitated due to the dense nature of the tree's branches. This amounts to no more than a crown lift of 1m.

    17 FOREST CLOSE, CHANDLER'S FORD, EASTLEIGH, SO53 1NB

1no. Silver Birch (T1) - Dismantle the to ground level. Replant with new Silver Birch as like-for-like replacement. Tree is in decline and is shedding significant deadwood from canopy. Main stem has an old major pruning/wound point with significant dysfunction and deterioration around the union. Remaining upright stem originates above this compromised area, creating potential structural weak point. The pronounced change in stem direction also places additional mechanical loading and leverage on weakened section, particularly during high winds.
