Planning application

The Folly Mill Street Cheltenham Gloucestershire GL52 3BG

Granted Cheltenham 19/00065/CACN Conservation Area Notification

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

T1 - apple. Reduce maximum height by 0.5m. Crown reduce to following dimensions: north - 3.5, South, 3.5, West - 4m, East - no change. Thin branch tips by 10% of twiggy growth. Stabilise deadwood. Reason: the tree is in an over mature state and has potential to experience storm damage if crown dimensions are not slightly reduced. T2 - horse chestnut. Fell. Reason - a young tree that is growing amongst others. Removal is appropriate to create space for other similar trees to grow and develop.

What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About heritage and listed buildings applications

How this application type works

Heritage applications concern listed buildings and conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for works, inside or out, that affect the special interest of a listed building, and carrying out such works without consent is a criminal offence. The council weighs harm to the heritage asset against any public benefit of the proposal.
