71 Walsingham Road Hove BN3 4FE
I wish to fell the bay laurel tree in the north-east corner of my garden as it is not an appropriate species for a garden of this size, is damaging the adjacent brick wall and shading parts of my garden as well as that of my neighbours at number 73. I have discussed this application with them and they would have no objection to the removal of the tree.

BH2025/02041 Granted
26 York Villas Brighton BN1 3TS
T1 - False Acacia (Robinia), located in the front garden of 26 York Villas I am applying for permission to reduce the crown by approximately 2-3 metres, pruning back to previous points to retain the tree's natural shape and form. Branches in contact with the neighbouring building will be removed to provide a clearance of approximately 3 metres, preventing damage and obstruction. Several smaller lower limbs will also be removed to raise the canopy and allow more light into the garden. Reason for works: Ongoing general maintenance and to keep the tree in good condition and appearance.

BH2025/02042 Granted
Gainsborough House 4 - 6 Eaton Gardens Hove BN3 3UA
T1 - Bay laurel - fell tree. Tree is causing structural damage to our boundary wall, and also to the roof and guttering of our neighbours garage block. Previous pruning has made no difference and damage has worsened. Tree also overhangs parking bays, and has low amenity value. We have recently planted 8 new cypress trees along the adjacent wall of our car park (T7 through T14 on plan) which more than replace this one tree and greatly improve the overall look of the grounds. T4 - Cherry - fall tree. Tree is unhealthy, including a significant cavity at its base and leans heavily towards a heavily used parking space. We believe it is in danger of falling, with damage to parked cars (or worse) if we have more strong winds next winter. We have already planted one replacement tree in a more suitable area (T6 on plan), and are considering one other replacements in the vicinity of T4 but closer to the lawn further back from the parking area.

The tree exhibits a dense upper canopy, increasing susceptibility to wind loading and presenting a potential safety hazard, particularly given the presence of a public footpath beneath and an adjacent busy main road. Deadwood is also present within the crown. It is proposed that T1 be reduced by 1-2 metres where appropriate, or back to suitable growth points, and that all deadwood be removed.
