Glencoe Lyndhurst Road Exeter EX2 4PA
T1 - Beech - Reduce the height by 2.5 metres, and shorten back the sides by approx. 1-1.5 metres, to leave a balanced form. Reasons for work - Health and safety factors. The tree has been randomly dropping branches where residents regularly walk. The thinning crown makes it more likely for the tree to deteriorate further and continue shedding branches. - Reduction work is likely to affect the vigour of the tree to some degree. Wounds can take longer to heal, and sun scorch can affect the bark when there is less leaf cover. However, the surrounding trees provide a degree of protection in this case. - Diameter cut sizes should be limited to 9-12cm topping cuts, and 6 cm lateral branch cuts. Natural target pruning should be practiced. 2nd to 3rd order growth should be pruned where possible, and cuts made no greater than a third diameter of the parent branch.
