Crabbet Park padel plans put six courts across two levels

A proposed padel centre beside Crabbet Park would split six courts across two levels to fit its sloping site.

The planning statement puts three doubles courts on the upper ground level and three on the lower level. A lift and stairs would connect the floors, with changing rooms and a warm-up studio downstairs.

The site is south of Crabbet Park Equestrian Centre on Turners Hill Road. The design and access statement describes a height difference of about eight metres across the land. The stepped design is intended to accommodate that slope.

The reception level would include a café with indoor seating and a terrace, a small equipment shop and a business area where players could work before or after a game. The planning statement says these facilities would serve the padel use, rather than operate as independent businesses.

Six doubles courts allow 24 players on court at once. That is the playing capacity described in the documents, not a limit on everyone who might be inside the centre. The statement also proposes 30 car parking spaces, including four accessible spaces, and eight cycle spaces.

The basic proposal has already been reported by SussexWorld. These details come from the submitted design and planning statements, which show how the courts and supporting facilities would be arranged.

Mid Sussex's register listed the application as pending consideration when checked on 14 September 2026. See the Crabbet Park application on PlanIndex, reference DM/26/2115. The diagram below shows the court split; it is a schematic, not an architectural drawing.

Methodology and limitations

Document-led local reporting using the public PlanIndex application record and the council register and submitted documents. No decision-speed comparisons, production database rows or private exports are used. Queries record public GET retrievals.

  • Application status can change after the check date.
  • Applicant statements describe proposals, not completed works or guaranteed opening dates.
  • No interviews or direct comments were obtained.
  • Coverage searches are limited by indexing and publisher access; absence of a result does not establish exclusivity.
  • Basic proposal already covered by SussexWorld. This article is a design follow-up and must not be pitched as an exclusive.
