We are proposing to cut a 1m section from the dead Cherry Tree in our garden that runs across the path from the house to the driveway. One of its roots lies directly under the path from the house to the driveway and we are having this pathway relayed and wish to cut approximately a 1m section of the root to allow the new slabs to lie flat. Unfortunately, the Cherry Tree has shown no sign of life at all this year after showing little sign of life last year, with no leaves or blossom appearing in spring 2026 and the branches are very brittle and snap easily. I have attached photos of the tree and its root across the path, and a plan layout of our property on Main Street, indicating where the Cherry Tree is and the location of the root, and hope that you will give consent for us to carry out these works in view of the fact that they will not be detrimental to the tree with it unfortunately already being dead. For reference we believe the Cherry Tree to be 40+ years old.
