Planning application
26/01380/LIS
5 Gar Street Winchester Hampshire SO23 8GQ
Proposal
Restoration and repair of the seventeen box sash windows on the property. The frames to be fully repaired and restored. The sashes to be replaced with heritage-style timber sashes matching the existing sashes, with traditional cord and weight mechanisms. Each sash will house 14mm slim heritage double glazed units and have a solid bar with individually glazed pane configuration. The Georgian Bars will be slim sections 22mm wide to match the current windows. All beading and mouldings will be in a traditional stretched Ovolo profile to match the other windows in the home. Traditional ironmongery will be used for the locks and pulls on the sashes themselves. Externally, the glazing bars would be putty-finished to maintain the authentic appearance expected of period sash windows and to uphold the architectural integrity of the property. Please note his is the same hybrid restoration approach, using the same contractor, that was successfully employed at Nos. 3, 4 and 6 Gar Street during 2023?24.

The process from here

About heritage and listed buildings applications
How this application type works
Heritage applications concern listed buildings and conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for works, inside or out, that affect the special interest of a listed building, and carrying out such works without consent is a criminal offence. The council weighs harm to the heritage asset against any public benefit of the proposal.
