Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

  There is a Large Ash Tree with a 6 Ft long crack going from the root plate up the stem. The tree leans towards a nice old Oak Tree, we would like to monolith the Ash tree to 8-10M high to save the Oak tree and retain habitat in the Ash stem. Next to the Ash there is a Beech Tree with historic storm damage and a large cavity half way up the stem caused by the storm damage. We'd like to remove the top of the Beech to just above the cavity to stop it from failing help retain the main part of the tree and keep habitat (10m Monolith in essence - with some lateral growth to help keep it going)

  T1 - Oak: The oak tree exhibits significant decay within the main stem and has previously suffered a major limb failure, resulting in substantial canopy loss. The tree is now leaning towards the adjacent property. Reduce to a monolith at approximately 2 metres (5/6 feet) in height for habitat purposes.   The trees are a mix of Beech, Hawthorn, Holly, Norway Maple and oak. We would like to raise the crown to stop damage to the trees from vehicles. The trees are labelled T1-15 on the arboricultural plans over the main carpark and not numbered for the northern end of the site. We are looking at raising the crown for the trees along the road side of the site (east) to no more than 3.5 meters above ground level. We will not be felling any trees. Over the last 10 years we have planted over 100 small samplings and hedgerow saplings around the site and continue to plant more every year.

Reduce from 14m to 12m in height and from 12m to 8m in width.
