The tree is an 11 metre high Monterey Cypress, which stands on the Western border of the site. It has been classed as a B2 tree according to the BS 5837 category grading system. Whilst it looks very nice, unfortunately it has been found to have grown directly over the property sewage manhole, and as such represents a present and future danger, both from roots blocking Thames Water sewer pipes (a recent sewage blockage discovered roots from this tree to be the cause) and an inherent weakness in terms of its anchorage to the ground, around the manhole structure. Please see attached photos for evidence. It is not possible to open the manhole fully without cutting the roots out from under the tree, which is not a sustainable situation.
