What a grant of permission means
The process from here
Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.
Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.
About heritage and listed buildings applications
How this application type works
Heritage applications concern listed buildings and conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for works, inside or out, that affect the special interest of a listed building, and carrying out such works without consent is a criminal offence. The council weighs harm to the heritage asset against any public benefit of the proposal.

2 Malthouse Paddock, Buckland, Faringdon, Oxon, SN7 8RH
2 x Maple trees Two Maple Trees in Malhouse Paddock, Buckland. Maple Tree 1 - (see supporting docs) Larger of the two Maples. One main limb, overhanging adjacent property and boundary wall, is splitting from the main trunk. We have previously had the weight reduced but it has now reached the point of requiring removal. The tree was examined by Tim Stringer, Tree Officer Vale District Council, in August 2014 and it was concluded that the limb should be removed to try and save the remainder of the tree. This application is for the removal of the affected limb. Maple Tree 2 - (see supporting docs) Is now showing signs of limb spliting at the head of the trunk and has grown substantially. It is proposed to reduce the crown by up to 25% in a uniform fashion to retain the shape whilst reducing the weight of the crown. All works will be carried out by a qualified arborist - we normally use Westwood Tree Surgeons (A Craddock). Remarks:
