Proposal
Observation requested by Diocese of Westminster Churches Committee for the existing boiler equipment is approximately 15 years old. Only 25% of the boilers are currently working, parts are obsolete and no longer available. The boilers provide heating for the Church and it is imperative that the building is heated sufficiently to protect the historic fabric. New smaller boilers, valves, pressurisation unit and finned tube heaters are required to redesign the system. It is expected that efficiency of the system will be 30-40% more efficient and will improve the comfort of the parishioners. It will lower heating costs and environmental impact in line with the Churches Net Zero targets. Limited works are required externally i.e. removing the existing flues in an interior courtyard and replacing with new black powder coated flues. There is limited loss of historic fabric of the Church as a result of the proposals.

What happens while it is decided
The process from here
This application is with Tower Hamlets for determination. The council publicises it, consults neighbours and technical bodies where required, and weighs the responses against local and national planning policy.
The statutory target is eight weeks for most applications and thirteen for major development, though extensions of time are common. Comments carry most weight while the case is undecided, so check the council portal for the deadline if you want to respond.
About this record
Reading the register
This page mirrors an entry on the statutory planning register that Tower Hamlets is required to keep. The published feed for this record does not state which type of application it is, which is common for older entries and for some council systems; the register entry on the council portal will say, alongside the case officer and any consultation dates.
Every planning application follows the same broad path: submission, validation, publicity, then a decision by officers or committee. Our guide to planning application types explains the common types and what each can approve.

Observation requested by Diocese of Westminster Churches Committee for works are required to address urgent maintenance and material failure issues affecting six asphalt flat roof and parapet areas. Roof Inspections have found areas where significant leaks are occurring. Works are necessary to fully repair and recondition the roofs to a fully watertight state of repair. The proposed works are to undertake like-for-like repairs and replacements, while ensuring the roof's ongoing weatherproof performance. The proposed works are intended to have no impact upon the architectural visuals of the building and are not visible from the street level. On completion the internal decoration of the church will be made good.
