149 Northfields Lane Brixham TQ5 8RH
Chestnut Tree on Northfields Lane. Tree T1 on sketch. Works requested: - Crown reduction by approximately 3 metres in height and 3 metres in lateral spread, resulting in a final height of around 14.92 metres (current height = approx. 17.92metres) and a final spread of around 11.66 metres (current spread = approx. 14.66 metres). - Crown thinning of up to 20%, evenly throughout the canopy, to reduce wind resistance and improve light penetration. - Selective pruning of long/heavy limbs to reduce weight and risk of branch failure, particularly on limbs overhanging public pathway, road and neighbouring property. - Removal of all significant deadwood throughout the crown in the interests of public safety. - All pruning cuts to be made back to suitable growth points to maintain the tree?s natural shape and structure. Reason for works: - A large limb (3 metres+) has recently broken from near the top of the tree, demonstrating the risk of further branch failure. I've attached photos of this. - The tree stands adjacent to, with limbs overhanging, public road, public footpath, my pathway and driveway to house, and neighbouring garden (there are young children who play in the garden) where falling branches could cause serious injury or damage. - The proposed works are intended to reduce the likelihood of future branch failures, while preserving the health and amenity value of the tree. This work would be carried out by an Arboricultural Association-approved contractor in accordance with BS3998:2010 Tree Work ? Recommendations.

Flat 32 The Vinery Montpellier Road Torquay TQ1 1TY
Photo 1 Shows the three trees in question. The trees are protruding out of the cliff wall below our garden safety fence they have not been trimmed for many years and we have recently moved in so we wish to stop any further cliff damage from the weight of the canopy Tree 1 We wish to trim the top canopy see image 3 for clarity. Tree 2 We wish to remove as it is causing the upper part of the cliff to be unstable. It?s is very close to Tree 1 It is also causing excessive damp and leaves in our neighbours garden below making it difficult for them to be kept safe as the leaves all fall on their flat roof below which is causing damage. If the tree was to become more unstable / dangerous or even fall it would go straight through their roof Tree 3 is about 12 feet further down the cliff and we wish to trim this so it does not get too large and cause further cliff damage or fall onto the property below. At present it is medium size and it would be prudent to not let it get larger. Photo 2 Shows the same three trees but from the Terrace at the front of the building. Photo 3 Shows the trim area on Tree 1 The removal of Tree 2 and the trim area on tree 3 Photo 4 is an aerial / plan view of the property location and the trees involved.

Please consider this application as a '5 Day Notice - With intent to fell' Numerous fruiting bodies of the decay fungus Meripilus giganteus are present around the base of the tree, along with immature fruiting bodies of a Ganoderma species of wood decay fungus, indicating the likely established (and advancing) decay within the main structural roots and stem of the tree. The crown of the tree is displaying sub-optimal vitality and density, compared with the same parameters in the summer of 2024. We believe with the root system and stem being compromised, along with the crown being in leaf that there is a immediate danger of whole tree failure in the current strong wind conditions. Due to the close proximity of the surrounding properties, there is a potential for structural damage and loss of life. Hi-Line would also prefer to proceed with these works 'as soon as possible' due to the positioning of the tree. There is VERY limited work space for dismantling with no access for a crane. As the weather worsens, rigging down the tree and extracting it will only add considerable damage to the surrounding gardens and further expense to the home owner. Replacement tree (species) to be discussed with the homeowner.

-
AT/2025/0273 Granted
Morden House Cockington Lane Torquay TQ2 6QT
Oak (T1) - In accordance with BS3998:2010, it is proposed to remove internal branches that are exerting mechanical pressure on the BT telecommunications cables, ensuring pruning cuts are made at appropriate junctions to preserve structural integrity and maintain a maximum clearance of one metre from the cables, while also undertaking the removal of dead, dying, or fractured branches exceeding 25mm diameter throughout the crown to mitigate risk and improve tree health, with all works to be carried out by a qualified arborist using clean, sharp tools to promote optimal healing and ecological sensitivity. Seating area located within the crown's dripline. Ash (G1) - Removal due to its declining condition and poor contribution to the garden?s visual amenity, which has otherwise been developed to a high standard. The tree is exhibiting clear signs of Ash dieback (Hymenoscyphus fraxineus), and extensive decay is present within the lower stem, compromising its structural integrity and long-term viability. It is recommended that the tree be felled and replaced with a smaller, more suitable ornamental species, such as Sorbus, to enhance the landscape character and ensure sustainable planting within the garden setting.
